Finished the Strike Squad, though I feel in some areas, especially the legs and shoulders of a couple of them, the wash didn't go on particularly well and just made everything look blurry, so I'll probably revisit them this week.

(EDIT: Woot 3000th post)

Thanks!

I've got another Jaeger! I've got two Iguana's to do after that and then my basic SRA stuff will be done, then on to...Peace River! (and then PAK/NuCoal, more terrain, and then more Northern and Southern mini's for alternate lists)

More terrain. I found that whatever GW did to their washes, they dry out faster, becoming much like very thick syrup or engine grease, and it has an interesting effect when it dries as a result. It doesn't come out spectacularly in these pictures, but when viewed in person it looks like sand buildup/drifts on the buildings.

An update!

Started on my PAK/NuCoal adventure, oddly enough with some more Northern gears to be part of a PAK Line Light Support Squad. Unfortunately the lighting in my apt sucks and these look much more muddled than they should :/

Sabertooth (will likely be the Army Commander)

Sabertooth and Tiger

And for the SRA...a new Drake! (hooded variant)

Interesting.. I didn't realize the drake went to metal/resin hybrid so quickly.

The Fusiliers did that very quickly as well, the first ones made were all resin and now they're half metal. I'm not sure what prompted the changes, but I'm ok with a bit more heft

Cruising in my CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT TRANSPORT

I had totally forgotten about Heavy Gear. These minis look so cool! Might just have to pick up a few to use as Crisis Battlesuits for my Tau. Any idea how close they are in size?

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

They're not close. The drake (the big unpainted metal/resin hybrid model) is about the size of a crisis suit whereas the normal gears are around space marine size. You'll occasionally see a pic of some gears (a kodiak specifically) on the internet next to a crisis suit that looks like a good standin but it's from the original RAFM line of minis that were much larger than the current ones.

As noted, they unfortunately aren't too close in size. The basic Trooper gears about the size of a Guardsmen, with more elite heavy trooper gears about the size of a Space Marine, and the fire support gears with the big guns are roughly Terminator sized, with the Drake picture above being roughly Dreadnought sized. The PRDF Cataphract could pass for a Crisis suit, it's bulkier but no taller I don't think, but it's also like a $40 model with a huge sword

Crisis suit proxies would be difficult, Cyclone Terminator proxies however could be abundant

Finished the Tiger squad!

Here's the 3 new Tigers

The squad. I generally tried to make the color scheme vaguely similar to my Northern Guard scheme so I could use them in there without too much trouble but wanted them different enough to be used as part of a PAK list at the same time.

Next up, a squad of Sidewinders with a Sabretooth commander for another PAK squad.

LOL, the minis/rpg game predates the computer games. Activision lost the Battletech license for PC games so went looking for another robot themed IP and found Heavy Gear.
