Currently I am on the Disney College Program down here in Florida without any access to transportation except for public busses and I haven't been able to get to a store to play any 6th edition yet.

Does anybody on the college program play 40k or would anybody from a store near Disneyworld be willing to give me a lift?

I just moved to the Daytona Beach area and am looking for a group/people to play 6th ed. with myself. Totally willing to snag you on the way to a shop for a good day of playing and meeting some new folks! PM me and we'll work something out. Vista still the party place? Or is it Chatham now?

Hey fellas, seeing as you're in the central FL, just wanted to invite y'all to Crucible 2 in March, 2013

crucible-orl.blogspot.com

In the meantime, there's Phoenix Games on the west side of Orlando, Paladin and Amorous Armadillo on the East and a GW store up in Altamonte. Over here on the coast in Palm Bay, 40K is heating way up and then there's Anthem and Armada Games over in Tampa. All the independent stores have forums and you'll probably have good luck connecting with folks on them. Just google!

New in DeLand: Galaxy Games! Opened very recently (last 2 weeks). So far there is an enthusiastic crowd there.

There are a couple really good stores in town.

1.) Phoenix Games located on state road 50 (colonial dr)

and

2.) Coliseum of Comic located down in Kissimmee on 192

Both have a decent amount of 40k going on, albeit CoC is split 50/50 between fantasy and 40k.

I've checked out a good portion of the stores in the area and some of them look to have pretty good potential. Are there any specific nights/weekends that a group will meet up and play? I've been going to a new store in Flagler Beach (Nerdz Comics and Games) but they only get together once a month and would also like to get into a more competitive atmosphere if possible.

I visited Sci Fi a couple years back when I was at Disney but was pretty disappointed when I drove down there for a tournament about a month back when 6th was coming out and no one wanted to play. I'm totally willing to drive an hour or more if there is a strong player base, but it would be nice to know of a for sure meetup time/location so I'm not just burning the gas.

Thanks for the responses it's nice to know that there is a player base here in Central FL for a person new to the area. Hope to have a chance to meet up sometime in the near future!

I got the same treatment at Sci Fi on several occasions over the last couple of years. Showed up for tournaments or open gaming and no one wanted to play. They even get a little pissy when all you want to do is watch an apoc game and such.

I wish our DeLand group met regularly but it doesn't. We throw game days together when we can, usually in my garage.

I plan on going to the 1850 tourny this weekend at Phoenix Games, but let me know on a weekend if ya'll want to meet up at a store to play. Getting that itch to play and want to run some ideas for lists and see which ones work the best. The shorter the drive the better, but I'm used to driving 2 hours each way for events when I was up in Kansas.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
What would be a better place to play during the weekday in Orlando. Phoenix Games, Sci Fi, or Coliseum of Comics?

Amorous Armadillo does 40k on Tuesdays, so you might want to hit them up. It'll also be less of a drive from Daytona.
