Hello everyone at Dakka!

Apologies if this is not the correct forum (it seems to be the right one, however) for this question, but this is my first post.

As my boyfriend has recently got into the 40k hobby at his local club, I have found myself rather un-ceremoniously dragged into starting my own army. While I prefer the painting aspect so far, I came to a dilemma; namely, which army to collect?

After giving it much thought, I have realised that I would really like to play the Sisters of Battle, but the cost of buying the actual minatures is beyond me.
So I gave it slightly more thought again and now have an idea to use models from other games or companies as counts as troops to play with.

The image in my mind is of a female army dressed in hooded robes. Not all of the characters would need to have hoods, but the robes are pretty much essential to the look I'm going for. As an example of what I'm looking for, the Dark Angels models are a good male equivalent. The only real requirement is that the model itself is roughly proportionate to the 40k range, or it would look very strange on the table! :p

I have been looking around for suitable miniatures, but so far I cannot find any. So does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find some?

TLDR: Can anyone help me find some fully robed, female miniatures to use in 40k?

Thanks!

Kicking and screaming, eh?

I'm not sure if it helps much, but I can vaguely direct you to Reaper Miniatures.

The scale of their female minis is what would be compatible with 40k, and the conversion opportunities are endless. I'd imagine since Reaper minis lean towards Fantasy instead of pure sci-fi, you would have to spend a lot of work to ensure they look SoB enough for your taste.

Hope this helps

I know most miniature ranges, but currently nothing comes close to Sororitas (though Mantic plans to release Nuns in Space in a year or so). Either wait 1-2 years until GW plastic models are released or search on ebay . Actually, Sororitas is not that expensive, having a rather low model count, not more than 50 Infantry (e.g. 3x10 standard, 8 Seraphim, boss). And if you see an ebay auction, show it to your boyfriend and look cute

Kind of, haha! I have played a few games now with my bf's Space Marines and it is pretty fun. I think I have caught the collectors bug hence the wish to start my own army!

I am checking them out, there is a lot of models here! I should clarify that I am not averse to conversions, I am quite happy to use fantasy miniatures if they are roughly close to what I'm after. I gave the example of Dark Angels as a look, but I am not bothered whether they wear armour or not, since ideally the robes would cover most of their bodies anyway.
I will even attempt to green-stuff robes if I get stuck, but I would do so with a sense of guilt for 'wasting' the lovely sculptures in a thick, rubbish covering of putty :p

Well, supposedly plastic Sisters are on the GW planned release list, maybe for next year.

As far as a cheaper place to buy them check out the swap shop right herre on Dakka or head over to Bartertown (www.bartertown.com). I've picked up several good deals on Sisters at BT. (And you can use some of the BFs minis as trade bait, just to get even with him!).
