I thought I'd share the first of a Guardian squad with you for some appraisals!

I'm quite pleased with how he turned out, although a close camera shot reveals a little too much of the flaws in my opinion! Always the self critic, but I'm very happy with this fella.

Comment away!

The squad grows!

I think the base needs a little something to go with the model.

Nice crisp job, nice relationship between weapon/helmet and body color, and excellent choice of basing, perfect for the color scheme. Like it.

I like the color pallete that you used for this. I agree that the base looks a little to simple but that's a tastes thing, not everyone likes a busy base.

This is just for tabletop, but I try to give each miniature the same level of attention. It's the perfectionist in me!

I think I'll pick up some darker grass to put on the base. I used the same base scheme for my Space Marines, but because a marine is chunkier than an Eldar it looked a little better on them. I'll see what the whole squad looks like together first, but I think the comments about the base here are probably right.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I've started work on the next few Guardians in this squad. I'm quite a slow and ponderous painter, which I find quite frustrating at times, so I've only managed to do the turquoise armour on one Guardian.

I'm beginning to feel a little despondent about it at the moment though. It's really just because the miniatures are at an early stage so look pretty shoody. (Don't everyone's though when a few early stages are painted?)

Anyways, I'm sure I felt the same about the above miniature at this stage as well. The curse of self-doubt!

Ah well, buck up cowboy!

Been a little busy of late, but I've finished two more Guardians and edited the original post with some new photos.

Very clean work. The only thing I would do at this point is paint or ink wash the base. The visible crystalline structure of the bare sand throws off the scale of the mini. Painting and highlighting or even just ink washing the base would tie the scale together better.

The sand is actually painted! It's based coat with Bestial Brown and then overbrushed with Bubonic Brown and Bleached Bone.

The bases look better then the photos make them look. That said I may put some brownish grass on as well. I think green grass will be too much of a contrast to the rest of the colour scheme.

Thanks for all the kind comments peeps

I'm something of a slow painter, I think, but I'll keep posting more once I finish them. I only paint two at a time since the amount blue on them drives me crazy if I try to do more at once!
