Here's a showing of some of the Necrons I've painted. The Ghost Ark looks wonky because I made it so you can use it for either troop transport or for the Doomsday cannon. Doesn't really fit in with the rest, but oh well! I tried my hand at OSL with the warriors, I think it came out pretty well.

Thanks for the compliments!

An Ork army is in the works, actually. The guys from AoBR, two boxes of Boyz & Trukk, Deff Dread. Probably get a few more things, going with Evil Sunz.

Your necrons are gorgeous. I know this paint scheme is redudantly used for necrons, but for some reason yours have a different look to them. I really like the green on the Arc, very vibrant. Excellent work. My only critique woudl be the bases. Because necrons are relatively simplistic and carry no wargear (pouches, canteens, grenades) I think their bases should have a little more going on, but thats a personal opinion.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

The Dude - "Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Thanks for the compliments! I ended up using a few different techniques, so unfortunately the army isn't fully cohesive in terms of color. The vehicles have a lot of drybrushing and washing going on, particularly the Ark. The Ark had a drybrush of Snot Green and then Scorpion Green, and a wash of Thraka Green, all over the black primer. Then I used Scorpion Green for the freehand lines and the jewel highlighting.

The Barge was smaller, but more complex. I covered it in Regal Blue, then drybrushed Enchanted Blue, Ice Blue, and finally Hawk Turquoise. The gold for both the Ark and the Monolith is a basecoat of Tin Bitz followed by a drybrush of Shining Gold, a drybrush of Burnished Gold, and finally a Gryphonne Sepia wash. I really like the effect, but it is time consuming. My Eldar gravtanks have a similar thing going on.

I used Dheneb Stone as a base for the Monolith, followed by a drybrush of Kommando Khaki and a drybrush of Desert Yellow. I was wary at first, but the sandstone look was worth the effort.

The Necron Lord was a new experiment. I used the same drybrush method for the armor. The gold was based with the new Balthazar Gold, followed by P3's Blighted Gold (a cool greenish-gold color), then a drybrush of Griffon Gold, which gave it that silvery finish. Metals were Boltgun Metal, several washes of Nuln Oil and Devlan Mud, then some highlighting with Chainmail and Mithril Silver, and then I think a little drybrushing with Necron Compound (I think).

The OSL is just some watered-down Snot Green and Scorpion Green. For most of the "glowy" green effects I use Gretchin Green with Snot Green and Scorpion Green as successive layers.

Sorry if that was wordy! I'm going to continue using the basic scheme for the rest of my necron army. I have a pack of Lychguard to finish up, I'll update the thread when I finish them.

You're right about the bases, I should add a bit more to spruce them up. My current mode of thinking was that the Warriors would be pretty basic (they get a drybrush of Tin Bitz or Necron Compound, it varies depending on how worn I want them to look) while the higher-ups get better bases (like Trazyn - I made his base and then affixed him to it). I'll have to see about adding in some grass and stones to add more flavor the bases!

Your monolith is SO cute!

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...

The Ghost-Ark looks sooo awesome! I would love to see a whole army painted in this scheme.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

How did you get the BLUE parts of the Monolith to look like that? They look different than the other blues. (And totally awesome.)

For the blue parts, I started with black primer, I think I basecoated it with Regal Blue or Mordian Blue, then drybrushed Enchanted Blue, drybrushed Ice Blue, and then a very light drybrush of Fluorescent Blue (Vallejo Model Color) on the edges. The fluorescent blue adds a unique look to the finished product!

Yeah it does! I love that the corner pieces on your Monolith look like they were hewn from a single piece of blue marble.
