Hi guys, haven't been on these forums in quite some time have I, well anyway I thought I'd post an idea I had for a warhammer 40k game, that if enough people like maybe we could send off to GW to see what they could do with it Anyway, here goes.
The game follows the same kind of basic mechanics as DayZ, as in its a hardcore survival game, you need to eat, drink, hide and gather supplies. But you start as a space marine, stripped of supplies and only wearing his bare armour thats severely battle damaged. Your in a small building. Outside you see the world of the game, completely decimated, destroyed, lifeless. Buildings crashed to the floor, rubble swarming the streets like ants, bodies strewn around like litter. The wildlife of the planet is bare, grass is dry, the soil is hard, and plants crushed. Trees and forests are charred, and animals are no where to be seen (maybe this planet could be randomly generated to give a different experience each time, or specially designed). You remember what happened. You are not only a space marine, but a survivor. A survivor of what. You survived a Tyranid hive fleet attack! However, tyranids are still about, patrolling the streets, knowing on flesh, generally being a terrifying beast. Its you job in this sandbox survival game to survive as long as possible, to find weapons to defend yourself, food to keep you alive, and water as well (your nutrient unit that provides you with food and water is destroyed). You can move slowly to avoid contact. You can build up your base and fortify buildings. You can find few other survivors and complete quests for them for supplies.
So, what do you guys thinks?

It would be far better as a guardsmen, remember that Space Marines can eat damn near anything for nutrition, wherein guardsmen steve doesnt have any fancy organs like that.

Plus, a guardsman would make a little more sense storywise, as one Guardsman would easily be written off as KIA, where the Chapter of that SM would be trying to recover his geneseed if they thought him dead.

Is this as a tabletop game or computer game?
TT there is little scope for miniture sales so GW will not be too interested unless I am missing an angle here? There are other good zombie survival games like ZTV already.
As a computer game wiki denotes this as being put into production rather than a MoD so it seems you will miss the boat and it will be seen as derivative of an existing game, so little chance of production.
I had never heard of DayZ before and it looks cool, thanks for the heads up.

I've always wanted to see 40K implemented as a PSN/XBLA game - the tabletop game, jazzed up and with FIFA Ultimate Team style unit/equipment/model packs so that you can build an army similarly to real life.
They could even put codes in real-life boxes of marines etc. I think it would improve real life model sales and get more people into the hobby.

So basically, Fallout: Warhammer 40,000 with a little bit extra.
I like it. Although it would never happen.
