So I play German FJ and have been very happy with the actual cost of them etc...

I was looking into a 2nd Allied army and almost stroked out at the cost of doing anything with an Arty Unit.

8 OQF pieces with trucks etc seems awfully costly in real life $$.. Not to mention if you want to do pure arty and do 2 units of them.

Is this the most expensive unit to buy?

If cost is a problem, why not look around at other manufacturers?

Artillery is easily the most costly addition in the game. To save some cash don't bother with transport. If you need transport go for SParty. If your towed arty is moving at all it is worthless to you anyway. The other issue is artillery is really only effective in large units so they get you there too.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

I would also recommend looking at other manufacturers. I know I simply can't afford Battlefront's prices. Some others out there are Zvezda, Plastic Soldier Company, Forged in Battle, Peter Pig and Old Glory (Command Decision range).

FiB has recently made out some excellent artillery pieces, PSC now has arty for Soviets as well.
I actually disagree that arty is the most expensive thing - try looking how much a platoon of panzerwerfers costs or try putting down the total costs for fully mechanised germans with decent size platoons and"official" BF SPVs - or much better - pioner company where each MG team has a halftrack (i.e. six halftracks per platoon).

Looking to trade away 15mm Forged in Battle Pumas (still in the box).

You are buying 8 guns with crews, and command staff, support vehicles and staff teams and the like. Yeah it is going to get expensive. You can decrease your costs by purchasing from lower cost figure manufacturers than direct from Battlefront. Playing elite forces like the FJ makes it easy to make an army for a lot less money, because your force will never be too big. On the other hand playing some of the cheaper Confident Trained allied lists can break the bank big time. Battlefront blisters contain all the bits you need to build the right platoons. You need to mix and match more when buying from other companies, but it can be cheaper. I just bought all the tanks for my LW Irish Guards Armoured Company from Plastic Soldier company for under $100...so depending on what you need/want you can get bargains out there.
