Hello, trying to see how to viably update my ork army for the new rules. Might be entering a tournament sometime soon, so looking for something that will hold its own there too. Well, here it is!

Warboss on bike with PK and Cybork - 135pts

15 Lootas - 225pts

30 Shoota Boyz with Nob with PK and BP - 220pts
30 Shoota Boyz with Nob with PK and BP - 220pts
9 x Nob Bikers with Cybork Bodies - with painboy, 2 PKs, Waaagh banner and Bosspole 525pts

3 Kannon Big Gunz - 60pts
3 Kannon Big Gunz - 60pts
3 Kannon Big Gunz - 60pts

So what do you think? The hammer of the bikerz and the anvil of the boyz with some cheap but hard to get rid of fire support thrown in.

Solid idea.

Big guns and lootas really can do with an ADL, this will keep them alive for longer. This is almost necessary.

Then you may as well get a quad gun to hit flyers. A unit of grots to fire said gun is also useful.

Lootas may be better for you in 3 5s or maybe a 5 and then a 11 or a 12. 225 points can sometimes be too many as they can only hit one unit per turn.

Big guns. Ammo runts are awesome, they will improve the guns dramatically. Then the runtherd will stop you running away which is the biggest problem. Then extra crew are good wounds and will be at toughness 7 when shot at.

If you are going to foot slog boyz towards the enemy you will really need a kff, without cover these boyz die to easily to be effective by the time they reach the enemy.
Having a unit just there to protect you back line of guns can be useful, behind an ADL they will have cover obviously and be able to at least shoot their big shootas.

Then a third of your points in one unit? Nob bikers are good but not that good. If you went for 2 squads of nob bikers and 2 warboss bikers then I would be on board with this.

Wow, lots of suggestions there!

I'd considered an aegis line, it would make the fire support hardier as well as giving a useful anti - flyer tool. Would it be possible to have a grot from a gun battery man the quad-gun? Never used one before...

To be honest, my usual configuration of lootas is three squads of five, and it might be worth reverting to that in the new edition and this list, as opponents will struggle to take down both them and the gunz.

Again, I usually do run a KFF mek, my problem was finding the points for it in this particular list. I'd have to drop a boyz mob to fit him in, and that means he won't be worth the investment for one squad.

Is this better than my original?

If you use the gun battery to fire the quad gun they cant fire the big guns. I was running 5 man loota squads lie I used to but they run or are killed way to fast now. I would stay with the 15 man unit, plus with hull points its really hard to wreck stuff with only 5 deffguns. I really like your first list as it has better troops (Ive been experimenting with something similar). I also agree with your thoughts on the KFF.

Of course they can fire. It takes one crew member to fire each big gun, then the others are free to man/grot the quadgun. They will have to fire the big guns and quadgun at the same target, apart from the interceptor mechanic means they may not even need to do that.

I was suggesting bringing a unit of gretchin to fire the quadgun. They are scoring and cheap which is nice.

your right as long as they fire at the same target and there is more than one grot, of course you can grot a quad gun

That sounds like a good idea then, maybe if I bulked up the number of grotz in one of the gun squads to man the gun. I think I'll give both lists a go, however. Can't help but think an additional 30 boyz will give opponents target priority issues

+1 I like your first list a bit more. I think you should shave the bikes a bit to get the grots/ ammo runts. Don't weaken your hammer bikes too much though and try to keep a good size of boys though. I would lose a gun before dropping a unit of boys.
