10. Compound name. This will eventually become a word in common language usage, like "woodlawn" or "parkway". Normally, this is a pet peeve of mine, but I'm willing to make an exception in this case due to awesomeness.

9. Giant Robots. These models are eight and a half inches tall. Yeah, that's right. Size matters.

8. Real plastic. There's resin, restic, plastin, and all sorts of mixtures thereof... but nothing compares to true, amazing plastic. This could be revolutionary, as a small company makes the leap to plastic, other larger companies (such as Privateer Press) will be pressured to do the same.

7. Options! Plastic makes extra sprue options possible. Remember the days when a unit came with every gun it could possibly field? Yeah... I don't either. But they were there, once. They say. And they can be again, with a small company making plastic models with tons of options.

6. Moar Units By pledging, more plastic units become possible. Funding for these things are expensive, and getting more orders upfront allows more units to be made. More on that in a second...

5. History. Buying something like a GW starter set will always be possible. Pledging to a Kickstarter allows you to make something happen that otherwise never would!

4. Reputation. Dreamforge, despite being a one-man operation, has for years put out high quality resin and metal models.

3. Multi-Use. These models will be suitable for use in Warhammer 40k for such things as Knight Titans, Dreadknights, Marines, Guardsmen, Heavy Weapons Teams, and Chimeras. They'll also be usable in the Iron-Core universe. Speaking of which...

2. Iron-Core Backers will have access to rules development with a core set of rules and plug-in "modules" for things such as armor penetration or unit formations. Finally, another army level (non-skirmish) sci fi game other than 40k!

1. Models The real reason to back the project. Feast your eyes (Spoiler tagged to speed up scrolling in the thread)

Spoiler:

So, that's my list . Link's in my sig if you're interested, and thanks for reading! Feel free to list any reasons you can think of below, as well . I edited the title to indicate what I wanted this thread to be, a light-hearted look at what I think is an awesome and worthy project, certainly not wanting to put down any others!

Act now, and receive a second one ABSOLUTELY FREE! (Just pay additionalS/H...)

Ok, seriously? Because if it wasn't for sites like Dakka (ie. word of mouth so to speak), some really great things would possibly never be found by lots of people.
Perfect exampple for me is if it wasn't for Dakka I would have never heard of http://zinge.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home or http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/ .
Somethings may have not taken off at all or taken alot longer to get going.

I understand why... I guess I'm just tired of finding Kickstarter projects on every fething website and forum that I browse. I mean damn, there's enough stuff in real-life begging for my money...

I like the crusader but I love the mortis so I'm going to have to wait and see what the deal is with that.

The project is already funded so I wouldn't feel too bad if I miss it.

PS- GW can suck it.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

Yes, but if you help fund it you help unlock the Mortis

Also, Eiríkr, I hear you. I have sworn that this will be my last Kickstarter (or really, major hobby purchase) for the year. But I think it's really worthwhile, and could affect the landscape of miniature creation by start-ups, and even larger companies. And, of course, the models are sweet!

But the fact that other things (such as the GW starter) are vying for folks' funds is exactly the point. That will be around for a long time, and buying it will make little or no impact on the gaming world. I would say similar things about Kickstarters from large companies like CMON. But, this has been a one-man operation, and backing it will make a huge difference. Those are the Kickstarters that attract me, and is the other reason besides awesome minis that I'm backing this one

Kickstarters like this one are hard to pass up.

Thanks to DakkaDakka, I've invested in the Reaper Bones Kickstarter. Not the one RiTides is espousing, but the point remains the same.

Consider contributing if you think it is a worthy cause. It definately gives you a lot for what it asks of you to contribute and it should also give you satisfaction that you helped the project succeed.

Hah, you may indeed do so! I have Brushfire slated for my next major purchase (Valkyrs!) but it may need to wait till the new year hits and the hobby fund "resets" . But you have found my weakness

See? Brushfire is another gaming system deserving of some backing. If it wasn't for Dakka, the system would be smaller than what it is today.

Not a huge fan of the infantry, but that not-titan is sure worth getting in plastic...

Indeed, we are incredibly grateful to the support we've received from Dakka's community!

No interest I. The larger model. Interest when the 15mm is released. My $100 going to dark vengeance for sure.

I've got two boxes of Dark Vengeance on order (granted one was nearly free thanks to store credit) but I'm in on this Kickstarter for two with two other members of my game group picking up one each. Can't say no to $75 counts-as titans.....

I just edited the title to be more of what I intended- a light-hearted look at what I think is a worthy and awesome project, certainly not wanting to put down or compare it to any others! I invest in lots of things, but I am very excited about this one

Really seems kinda unnecesarry with a duplicate thread... Couldn't this just have been posted in http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/469751.page?

Or do we now have to see threads about the same kickstarter in 3-4 different forums, as light hearted as they may be?

Actually, over the last 3 months or so, Dakka seems to finally have moved away from being largely a Games Workshop-ad (deserted sub-forums aside) to a place that is truly home to the more diverse hobby out there.

Place has never been better than today!

Ok I am looking and can't find this, so I may as well ask here...what scale are those storm troopers? Because I want...but I can't justify it to myself if they aren't warhammer scale...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

@motyak

They are suppose to be 28mm scale. They aren't heroic but they're pretty much the same size which is nice so you don't have any gorilla hands or heads. Definitely usable as imperial guard or in some cases SoB.

Replying this just to say that the funding for this is in a bit of a lull just under 80K- if any Dakkanaut is on the fence, it could really use your support now!

Well, you'll love to know that the 15mm pledge level has been achieved. You can get 1 at $44, or up to 3 @$105.
