Yeah. But he's Abaddon and this is the Black Legion we are talking about. You think he'll be inclined to entertain "diverging opinions" or formulate official "Black Legion policy" on the basis of democratic majorities
...but, just because Abaddon is bitter about his master's death, and he says so to an enemy who was goading him, doesn't mean that its an opinion that even he would voice in front of the Legion.
I'd say they treat Horus as a visionary and a great leader... Abaddon's just cranky about that issue is all.

Abaddon's title is also Warmaster. So can you guarantee they are referring to Horus or Abaddon?

The quotation in fact pre-dates Abaddon's appearance in the background, but yes, it would be quite possible now to read it as though the Black Legion consider Abaddon to be the "remade" Warmaster.

I think Abaddon is one of those guys who is all about smearing someone else to make himself look better. I think that the rank and file Black Legion members probably look up to ol' Horus, but I am sure that there are others who agree with Abaddon (and probably would no matter what he said). It's also possible that Abaddon was just saying that without actually believing it, especially if he was fighting/arguing at the time. He also strikes me as the kind of spiteful ass who'd say something he doesn't even believe just to say his opponent is wrong.
All in all, I would guess that opinions are split on the issue.
I would be of the opinion that many in the Black Legion still view Horus favorably but then again I'm sure there are plenty that adhere to Abaddons views of the dead Warmaster. It makes me wonder about tensions within the legion and if there are schisms about this very subject.

I wouldn't put that past him. He had to reunite the shattered Legion after Horus' death and what better way than elevate himself above the dead Primarch?
Abaddon is just a stain compared to the greatness of Horus and if Horus hadn't of died at the siege of terra then he would still have Abaddon as his little servant in the eye of terror today.

I think the Black Legion see Horus as their father and leader. And swear vengeance to the Emperor. But, Abaddon would consider what Horus to have done to have been a foolish move. In the HH novels you already see the small cracks in Abaddon. He is loyal yes and reading into it remember Black Legion didn't officially rename their legion until they managed to retrieve their primarchs body from Fabious Bile. Upon retrieving the body. They burned it to ensure that it could never be used against them or be used to create anything that could be used against them. They renamed themselves the Black legion to commerate that they were forever in morning of their gene father. Abaddon views Horus as both a failed father and, as weak leader. He's not foolish though to voice these thoughts though to anyone beyond his own close council.

If Horus hadn't died at the Siege of Terra, he would be leader of the Imperium.
I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

Spoiler:
Personally, I think the reason for Abaddon's smudging of Horus's name is the same as the reason for most of the Imperium's current problems: Daddy issues.
Abaddon was Horus's number one fanboy, he more than anyone would follow his Primarch into the Eye of Terror and come out a monster, without a single second thought. Compare him to "Little" Horus Aximand, fellow traitor in the Mournival, although he betrayed the Imperium like Abaddon did, for him it was not an easy decision, and he was heartbroken that he had to kill Torgaddon. Abaddon on the other hand, relished in the opportunity to murder Loken, a traitor to Horus.
But when Horus lost, when all that Abaddon forsook the Imperium for came to nothing (In his view), he felt betrayed by his "father", and grew to despise him.
That's my personal take on it anyway.

I found that the culmination of events for Loken, Torgaddon, Little Horus and Abaddon were some of the best in Black Library's writing. Would hate to see it spoiled for someone else.
