Is an army comprised of only rangers of Gondor viable?
My starting list would probably be something like
Faramir
12 rangers of Gondor with bows
Damrod
12 rangers with spears
1 captain of Gondor
12 rangers with swords
Is this in any way playable?
Is it even legal?

Perfectly legal, as long as only one of Faramir, Damrod and the Captain have a bow. I'm not sure how many points it comes to, but seems like a solid basis for an army

It's legal, and Shas'o is a little off, heroes don't count towards the bow count, just the model count. All of your heroes could have bows if you really wanted them to.
It looks like it'd be awesome to see on the battlefield as well, as I love themed lists.

Thanks for the info, I haven't played the sbg for over 5 years now and it has changed quite a bit, I will need to slowly build up my armies.
Quick question, are conversions allowed in the games or not?

Why wouldn't they be? The only rule's for modelling are:
1) It has to be awesome.
2) WYSIWYG
In fact, now I kind of want to start a ranger army...

Um.. Not to nitpick, but it is not legal. All rangers of Gondor come with Bow. It is not an optional item and so the list would be not legal.

Are there any other lightly armoured gondorians that aren't from the fiefdoms.

Unfortunately no, however for theming, you could always do a Numenor army that way. You would lose all your special named heros and have to defer to regular ones, but you have more flexibility on the arming of models in Numenor.
Your list was about 450 points alos. Not sure what you were building to, but here is an option from Numenor
500 points - you actually have 11 poiints left. Also all units have spears and yoru non-bows all have shields. so spear support is fully covered regardless of who is in combat. The main loss here is your bow fire chnages from a 3+ to a 4+, but themed all lightly armored as you wanted. Hech, you could even name them all as a gondor force using the Numenor list.
Unlimited Pts - Numenor Roster
1 Warband, 163 pts

12 Warrior of Numenor (Hand Weapon; Bow; Spear; Armour)

12 Warrior of Numenor (Hand Weapon; Spear; Armour; Shield)

If you want all rangers, then the rangers of arnor are the way to go. You can be over the 33% bow limit by having one Dunedain (or Ranger of the North) for every 4 rangers of arnor. You can also field Aragorn and Halbarad (who's banner is the best in the game).
I love this army, but unfortunately they have no calvary and if you want people with armor they don't have plastic models. So I just converted them from warriors of minas tirith. If your interested I can show you a pic.

I may do an Armor army then, however I can not get faramir or Damrod in that army can I?
@TheV0791 I'd love to see that conversion, I always thought that it would be doable.
What would a ranger heavy list look like at a small point game?

No you can't but you can Halbarad and Aragorn!
Anyways, I thought the whole ranger thing was like riders of rohan, if there are too many bows remove them from your wargear?

So my army might look more like
Aragorn
12 warriors of Arnor
With shield 1 with banner
Halbarad
12 rangers of the north
Captain of Arnor
12 warriors
1 horn blower
1 banner bearer
The rest with shields
How many points would this be roughly?

I think that's about 911pts? I haven't the book to hand right now.
One thing you may not be aware of is ranger of the north are all seperate heroes and all act in there own little warband with out anyone else.
I think you may just mean rangers? Also 17pts cheaper a piece

I like the list, however for that many bows in your army you must have the dunedain or rangers of the north. That is how the rangers work. For example a warband of...
Halbarad
12 Rangers of Arnor
... would have to be supported by...
3 Rangers of the North (or 3 dunedain)
This is because there is a ratio of 1 Ranger of the North (dunedain) to 4 Rangers of Arnor.
Another thing to note is that it is highly advisable to spend the one extra point to get Rangers of the North rather then the Dunedain because of the difference of 1 Defense.

This is not entirely correct. You have to adhere to the 1/3 bows rule if you do not want to run a Grey Company list. the list is correct as listed(although not themed entirely correct due to the question of warriors of arnor existing in the time of Halbarad. But that is a different debate. The rules allow for his selected build. If he wanted more than 12 bows though and didnt want to stay wit the 1/3 limit he could convert to a GC list which requires a single Dunadain or Ranger of the North for extery 4 Rangers of Arnor.

I'd agree with you (themewise) if the list involved King Arvedui or Malbeth the Seer. However, one can assume there are still Warriors of Arnor (such as defenders of Bree?).
My point is because of how vague a warrior of arnor is, it could be assumed they are from any age.
And jlong05, you are right. Oragami Chicken's army is completely legal (I thought it read 12 warriors and 24 rangers, my bad)
And lastly to Oragami Chicken, You can still have Faramir, Damrod and/or Madril. But they would have to be allies (this means that if you have any Rangers of Gondor/Ithilien you need twice as many warriors from Gondor's list.)
