Can't decide which Legion to paint my Chaos up as when the DV box set arrives, I've narrowed it down to the above and was hoping you guys could help me to make a decision (something I've been trying to do for over a week now).

Likes:

EC - Lucius sounds cool, greatest swordsman in the entire galaxy and all that jazz. I also like the idea of them looking all crisp and clean all the time, as I've no skill at weathering etc (only as I haven't really tried though!)
DG - The Dusk Raiders scheme (white with crimson right arm and shoulder pads). The lack of tanks, and skill at boarding actions. A mostly white force is something I don't have at the moment either, so they'd be different to paint.
AL - The whole ability to infiltrate other legions disguised as their own as described in Deliverance Lost

Dislikes:

EC - my dark eldar are purple and gold, a similar paint scheme (if not identical)
DG - the idea of weathering and making everything look mouldy
AL - the missus'd kill me if I put blue and green together without a colour in between

Aside from the above points, what'd your preference be if you were choosing for yourself and why? I've gone through Lexicanum et al too.

Cheers

Death Guard Dusk Raiders dude! looks good together and you can quite happily pilfer some older mk's of armour to scatter throughout! don't stress about the weathering i'm sure we can sort something out that you like the look of :-)

Best bet is to have a crack at a test scheme of each, you'll quickly decide if you enjoy painting the chapter or not, it's what makes me jump around from army to army until now where i've settled on my Flesh Eaters! :-)

My money is on Alpha Legion. I just dislike the Emperor's Children, and I think that the Death Guard frequently defy the heraldric style that makes Space Marines (loyalist or no) fun to look at. (Which is what draws some people to them, I understand, it just isn't my cup of tea.) I think that the Alpha Legion would be a great choice.

Emperor's Children! They are actually pink and black, I play a Slaanesh Warband (you can see a few samples of my paint scheme) so not Emperor's Children but I love my Noise Marines.

Must admit that I'm edging towards AL myself, as I've not painted any blues... Though I think a good dusk raiders scheme could look awesome if done well enough (especially that wonderful helbrute) though equally it could look atrocious if not done well enough!

2 for AL, 1 for DG and 1 EC so far! Another option I considered was to have a warband of many legion 'representatives' in tow, so I'd have word bearers for my chosen, world eaters for berserkers etc whilst cultists would just be a generic colour, probably a brown and industrial green to represent mass produced, cheap gak. Although AL cultists could be cool, there's a cracking picture of them in this months WD

I gotta say I love my death guard. They are the post dusk raiders, pre heresy scheme. Of all white with green and gold trim. I love it.

They are all Alpha Legion, just in disguise! So you might as well paint them in their true colors ^^

A poll would have been interesting here.
Emperor's Children is not so often played. Khorne and Nurgle were far more popular in the past.

The sink.

I voted for Emperor's Children. However, if you play Alpha legion you can constantly proclaim that so-and-so the aspiring champion is actually Alpharius. And you'd probably be right.

I vote Alpha Legion, mainly because the Emperor's Children are a bunch of screaming druggies and the death guard look pretty disgusting. The Alpha Legion also has the best option for allies fluff wise. With the new rules you can totally ally the Alphas and an Imperial Guard force. Call the Guard traitors and paint them up in camo and alpha colros to make them look liek infiltrators. Also, Alphas are just amazing compared to the other 2.

Oh yeah, and I am Alpharius

I concur and I voted for Alpha Legion as well but on second thought I'd be interested in seeing an actual army painted in the Dusk Raiders colour scheme.

Oh and I'm not Alpharius, I promise.

Of course not, you're obviously Omegon.

I voted Alpha Legion, I like that no one really has an idea what they are doing or what their goals are.

This is a signature. It contains words of an important or meaningful nature.

I say Alpha Legion also. That's what i'm doing with my DV chaos. There such an interesting chaos legion in that there isn't much known about them.

I'd go with Alpha Legion, because I'm not a big fan of extreme fetishes or having my guts trailing behind me, regardless of any perks that might come with it.

Alpha legion,
EC are just bleh
And the Death Guard are not really the best example of a good legion. They were quite useless compared to the other legions.

Wow, AL got some serious love over night! Here's hoping the EC guys don't get too jealous...

So what is it that you don't like about the EC, specifically? Is it just that their self indulgent nature stands too far apart from the rest of the astartes template? I'm reading Reflection Crack'd atm, and one thing I'm finding difficult is the idea of SM's having orgies as is quite heavily hinted at in this book!
