Subject: Re:The Black Death. The Black Legion (And anything else I make)
I know it's not an very original idea but I just love this model too much to not use it. I'm planning on using it as a sergeant in a unit of Plague Marines. I didn't really want to change this guy too much but I still wanted to be clear that he's a 40K mini, so I had to 40K-ify him. So I added some grenades and a bolt pistol and of course no CSM is complete without a trophy from a previous kill.

Subject: Re:The Black Death. The Black Legion (And anything else I make)
@ Zambro: Some Cataphractii Terminators with power fists and a special weapons set, Legion Mk.II squad, a Mk.IV assault squad, Phobos Bolters, Phobos Chain axes, Rampagers and a Davanite Lodge Priest. Cant wait to get a new airbrush so I can start painting them up.
@Theophony Nothing beat the originals though.
So this is just as showing of all the random stuff that I'm very slowly working my way through.
I picked this model up a few months ago and it's been sitting like this ever since. It's a great wee model and should look pretty good once I get around to finishing it.
Spoiler:
This guy belongs to the base of my Angron, I wanted something different to the normal two WE so I thought I'd make one of them an IF as it helped to tie my two armies together when they're sitting on my shelf, I've weathered him slightly more than my normal IF because being killed by a Primarch probably roughs up your armour a bit.
I've loved this model since I first saw it so when I started this army it seemed like a great chance to paint it up, I'll probably use it to symbolise my Nurgle cultist unit. This is the first time that I've used properly thinned down paints, and I've gotta say I can see why people recommend so much.
I was painting this guy up with the intention of entering it in to GD, however time conspired against me but it did give me the chance to try out NMM which is something I've always wanted to try my hand at, now I know it's not the best but I was pretty pleased with it seeing as it was my first time.
I'm actually really pleased with how this has turned out, it was my first try at a new way of painting skin tones. I went for the whole crazy eyes wide open look, it looks a lot better when you see it with the whole model as he's lunging forward.
This is the starts of a new DG rhino, I'm using OrcPainterNerds (see my sig) tutorials as a guide but with a few tweeks, I'm around a quarter done with this and so far I'm liking how it's turned out.
When I first saw the HE Skycutter I was just shocked by how dynamic it was, so I picked one up but it sat in it's box in the wardrobe for a fair while, this is the first time I've painted a bird of any kind so the whole thing is really an experiment.
If you've managed to get this far then thanks, anyway until next time.
So I finally got around to working on some of the models that I picked up at Games Day.
I'll be adding these guys to my Imperial Fists they really represent the whole idea of the IF and these guys are massive the tower above regular marines.
Another update and this time I've actually managed to finish some models.
'' When the residents of the upper hives of Hershman IV began appear in serrated armour and tight clothed body suits those lower down the hive presumed it to be some new and weird fashion style that would disappear within a few months, a year later not only was this style still present but it had spread to those lower down and gotten more extreme, with people walking openly in public with bsrely any cloths on them. Rumours had also begun to spread of noises coming from the peak of the spires. It was approximately 720 local days later that the sky above Ocarus hive turned bright turquoise within the hour transmissions started coming through on the vox reports say they couldn't work out if they were cries of pain or pleasure.
Reports aren't clear what exactly happened but what is clear is that a sizeable force of Emperors Children had arrived on the planet and with the help of the millions of ready made cultists on the planet had either killed or converted the PDF and the rest of the populace to there ways.''
I was planning on using GW's DE wyches to makke these guys but I was looking on Raging Heroes website when I spotted their sci-fi eldar and they just fitted the fluff I'd made perfectly. They're great wee minis with loads of character and some great poses.
I really love the jumping pose on this model, it looks likes she's just nimbly over a buch and blasting her gun into some poor PDF troopers face.
I think that this model really represents the cruel sadistic model side of Slaanesh, that chain weapon she's wielding is just so brutal looking
I'm still planning on using GW's wyches to make some Slaanesh cultists, in fact there's some on my Christmas list. I decided to go with the orange for the armour as I remember when the DE first came out seeing some painted in orange and just loving how it worked. I went for the purple hair as I think it worked really well with the orange it'll also tie into the EC armour when I finally get around to painting them. I finished these guys in a bit of a rush so I'll probably go back in at some point at and full in some of the white patches.
Hopefully I'll have made some progress on the mass of un-painted stuff on top of my wardrobe next time I post. Anyway thanks for reading and any feed back welcome.
Raging Cheesecake's models are a little bit over the top, but in the case of the "Dark Eldar", they work really well. A little too "chainmail bikini" for my tastes, but hey, boobs.
I like what you've done with this so far. I think the heretical Guardsmen will mesh in reasonably well.
Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
Thanks Veteran Sergeant, I'm thinking of adding in some of the cultists from FW to represent a more cohesive traitor regiment, who turned traitor all at once.
So I was looking through some old pictures I took of my SM when a year or two ago, so I just thought I'd put up on here to get some feedback.
''When the Bentol system came in the way of Hive Fleet Leviathan the 4th company of the Crusaders Space Marine chapter had already been there for a month helping to preparing the defences, along with a detachment from the Red Wolves who had seen heavy fighting against the vanguard of the hive fleet. Along with them were the 856th Ventlock Dragoons and the 22nd Arcadia Siege regiment. The defences were harboured around the Bentol IV's main city. The guard were used as the main bulwark of the defences while the marines launched lighting strikes against the Tyranids. However after 23 day of fighting it was decided that it wasn't worth the resources to defend the world, so the order came through to evacuate the world. With the marines and the 22nd Arcadia siege regiment providing the rear guard the slow evacuation of the woprld began.''
Ancient Demock was critically injured in M35 fighting a long dead alien race, their unique form of weapons melted 80% of his body. His first action as a dreadnaught was against an ork invasion some 34 years later, it was he who killed the ork war bosses routine, which gave the sergeant of his former squad the opportunity to plant a melta bomb onto the ork. It has become tradition with in the chapter to allow Demock to have the final say on the appointment of a new Captain for 4th company.
To try and represent the fact that these guys have been in the midst of the toughest fighting in the invasion I went for a battered paintjob but I still wanted to show that this guy is an honoured and historic component of his chapter. Even though it's been about two years since I painted this guy I still really like how he turned out.
Thanks for reading and have a Merry Christmas.

Hi everyone hope everyone had a great Christmas, didn't have to bad a one myself got some very nice hobby stuff that you'll hopefully be seeing over the next few months.
These guys are the first of the stuff I got for Christmas. I've been wanting to make up some dark mechanicus for a while now, so when I got some wraiths for Christmas I knew they'd make some great count as obliterators. So I've spent the past two days glue bits to these guys trying to get them to look more less like necrons and more like the invention of some crazy adepts invention.
Thanks @Zambro for the kind words, those are some amazing Sons of Medusa in your gallery.
Got some painting done this weekend managed to get the highlights done on my BL marines, though I do feel that I went a bit over the top with it, still getting used to my new airbrush.
Managed to get two WE command squad members, that I got back in August.
Looks great. Whats up with the sword on the dude on the right? All of the pictures are at an awkward angle. A red / orange power weapon effect i'm guessing?
And thanks for the compliment on the SoM I only painted that one squad, and looking back at them, I think an army of them would look awesome
I also managed to finish off three of the DV minis.
Sorry about the poor pics but there's only so much you can do with an phone, though it does seem to take better pics in day light so I might try and get some better pics tomorrow.
anyway until next time.
Today I've got a bit of a mixed up. First up I've got a zombie model that I've had sitting on my painting shelf for over a year.
Spoiler:
When the Curse of Unbelief befell the agri world of Jaffrall, the local government did not worry as it happened that the 144th Agripinaa Rifles, were present as part of an escort for the supplies being taken from the world. The 144th deployed in force with half of the regiment along with 5 local defence regiments, moving out to attack the settlements which lay at the heart of the hoard. It is to the Imperium's great regret, that the governor was so complacent and that Colonel Varon Glaber commander of the 144th was so conceited, that neither sent word to the wider Imperium. Instead of an army returning with news of glorious victory, they were greeted with a hoard ten times the size of that expected. Along side them marched warriors of the Death Guard legion. Though the space port was defended by upwards of 20,000 men, they could not hope to hold off a combined force of zombies and Space marines. When the battle was done the Death Guard loaded Nurgles newest recruits into bulk carriers, so that they may bring Papa Nurgle's word to millions of others.

Yathal Nexus- Formally of the Raven Guard
Spoiler:
Yathal was once a tactical marine of the Raven Guard's 6th company who died honourable on the cursed fields of Istvaan V. Our so his legion and chapter believe, in reality the truth is far more dark. Yathal fought well on the fields of Istvaan until he and what remained of his centaury were trapped in a gully near the Urgall Depression, surrounded by SoH Yathal opened fire on his own men. In the following moments of chaos Reaver assault squad moved in butcher the Raven Guard while they're back were turned. Yathal was enveloped into the legion, being placed in the 10th company.
Gabriel Yagrat 'The Cursed'
Spoiler:
Yagrat was indoctrinated into the XVI legion only short time before the purging on Istvaan, with Istvaan being only his 3rd front line deployment. On Terra he fought alongside the Emperor's Children attacking the populous of Terra. Within the Grand Company of Kloros Juddthall 'The Just', he rose to take command of the 'Iniquitatem alae' Kloros' terminator detachment. However he was busted back to squad member, after causing the death of 20 of his men against a White Scars company, s further punishment Kloros had part of his mind removed by his coven of his sorcerers, this is what lead to him becoming partially possessed by a demon.

So I was reading through Kraut Scientists great Khorne warband blog, and I was inspired to try and build a model from what I could find from looking through my bitz box. I ended up coming up with a terminator for the Khorne section of the warband.
The only thing I'm not sure of, is which shoulder pad to use.
Gretar Nolad- Sergeant 7th battle squad, 10th Cohort, 2nd Great Company Death Guard legion
Spoiler:
The snow of Deganon crunched beneath Gretar's armoured feet, bolters could be heard crashing in the distance, reports had come through of Space Marines not wearing the red of the Blood Angels in the Cregan region of the city, so Dreldar and his Death Guard had been ordered to push into their region to compensate, about 10 meters ahead of him the plague zombies advanced at a slow stumbling pace across the mile wide square of no mans land between the loyalist and liberated side of the city.
About 500 metres from the loyalist front line a forward observation post opened up with an autocannon, zombies began to explode sending arcs of blood and organs through the air, Gretar's six brothers fanned out and began to increase their speed, men could now be seen moving around the loyalist lines. Ahead of them the keepers began prodding the zombies along at a faster pace to try and keep ahead of the advancing marines. Fire began pouring toward them from the main loyalist lines, just beside him Rask stopped his head snapping back, where his voice box had been was now a gapping hole with thick dark blood gushing from the hole, Gretar's fat lips pulled back and let out a retching laugh as Rask picked up his bolter an continued to advance.
Almost instantly all of the firing stopped and an armoured column came racing out of the main avenue being lead by a rhino and two predators chimeras slued out behind the sending a muddy slush flying from their tracks, men in tattered pink uniforms hanging on the top of them. As the tanks skidded to a halt squads began disgorging from inside. The rhino had deposited a squad of marines ins shining blue with red shoulder pads, they immediately split into two sections, one moving towards Gretar's squad being lead by a marine in a red Mk. VI helmet with a white beak carrying a power sword and gladius, oaths of moment streaming behind him.
As the Sergeant got near, Gretar allowed his axe haft to slip through his hand until he just had it by it's end, then swung it one handed at the marine in a wide arc the sergeant instinctively slid beneath the blow coming up with a slash at Gretar's stomach, his skin peeling back like lips and his guts lolling out. The Sergeant jumped back slashing down with his power sword at Gretar's upper arm, causing Gretar to bring his axe up desperately deflecting the blade, causing sparks to rain off it and smashing the end of the haft into the marines eyepiece shattering it, the eye behind it starred out, blue and hated filled. Gretar hefted his axe over his head and brought it down in an executioners strike the marine brought both blades up in an X catching the neck of the axe, however causing him to slid back I the bloody slush beneath their feet.
'' Are you scared little one'' he whispered '' Drop you're weapons I'll end it all''
'' I am not weak traitor, I would never have turned, I will never turn.'' he roared back through his helm mounted speakers.
'' You will beg before the end, we did and we were the first, the emperors true finest''
He pulled his axe up, twisting it as he did catching the guard of the power weapon as he did sending it gliding through the air. The sergeant automatically dropped back his gladius held before him, Gretar hefted his axe up to his shoulder extending a bloated hand as he did so.
'' Come brother, embrace Nurgle''
He jumped, thrusting his blade at Gretar's throat. Gretar spun on is heel, sweeping his axe around into the back of the sergeant's knee, slicing through the weak back armour and into the meat front of it. Sprawled on the ground he tried to turn himself over and rise, but the axe had cut through the leg, only stopping due to the armour on the other side. Gretar walked over dragging him to his knee and drawing his axe back.
'' I won't beg,'' he coughed out through a mouthful of blood.
'' This is not the end of your torment, this is just the beginning''
Wow it's been a while, basically I've been a way from home for the past three months so haven't really had a chance to partake in any hobbying, but no I'm back for a few weeks for Christmas so I've been able to get back into the hobby.
The first thing Iv finished building is this WFB giant which I've suitably 40K'ed up. The basic Idea is this guy was taken prisoner by the BL then lobotomized and given augmentations.
So to start everything off the converted giant from last time.
The inspiration from this has come from all the cool Inquisitorial blogs which have become so popular over the last few years, seeing how some people can take fantasy kits and turn them into great 40K models has really inspired me to have a go myself. After working on this model I can really see why people have doing it, it really was a great model to build and surprisingly fast and fun to paint, hopefully I'll be able to continue doing this in the future.
