Well when I started there were 2 warrior options (Kataphrakts or Warriors, great selection!) and 2 Heroes (Khamul and the Captain). And to play them you had to get a book that featured scenarios featuring my arch-enemy Gondor. Thankfully the range has increased in size.

aye, I do quite like the mystique about them- I think if I ever did an evil army, I'd at least have an allied contingent of easterlings ^^

greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid. |

Hell yeah! Elven Warriors, try shooting down my 2 phalanxes of warriors! What's that? You need to roll a 6 to wound? Boo-fething-hoo. Now - PREPARE TO fething DIE!
Is it just me or is the fight value for a model remarkably useless?

well, you tend to win more combats, which comes into play once or twice a turn, for me at least.

Well, it only comes into play if you both roll a draw so it's of limited influence, sure. But it rewards you more with the more dice you roll, so in situations where you've managed to achieve local numerical superiority, have more attacks, or can use a banner it's worth more than it is in a one-on-one confrontation.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?" |

But it's still a pretty pointless mechanic. If I spam Elessar on foot with 4 Uruk-Hai backed up by 2 spearmen each (12 attacks), the chances are I can defeat him easily. Of course Aragorn is a better fighter than the average Uruk, but that's barely represented.

that's the thing- no matter how good a fighter you are, if you're being attacked by 12 men from all sides, chances are you're not gonna come out of it in one piece, but if you're good enough, there's still a chance you'll win.

of course I have, and as awesome as that is, Aragorn was never facing more than one or two at a time, and those uruks behind him were busy fighting the Rohan guys defending the gate.

Just as a note, as I am starting up now to since the hobbit game( and movie) came out. See what weapons your models have as there are the special strikes. So your little dwarf warrior has a axe and can 1/3rd of the time hit like a troll.

Actually if King Ellessar charges he will have a 55% chance of beating 12 uruk hai attacks. Once you hit 4 attacks it becomes impossible to gain the upper hand, quite literally Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit: You said on foot I missed that. On foot with 3 attacks versus 12 he only has a 45% of winning

What would a good 500 point isengard army to star with.
What units and the point cost.
