Just wanted to see if we played this correctly:
4 Paladins and a Librarian are locked in combat with 3 Daemon Princes and a Contemptor Dreadnought. The Librarian and two of the Paladins are locked in Challenges with the Daemon Princes, the last Paladin is getting his head bashed in by the Dreadnought. The Librarian and two of the Paladins die, leaving one guy with a Warding Stave in a Challenge.
The question is, what happens to the two victoriouys DPs and the Dreadnought? Are they free to rampage away somewhere else or do they have to stand cheering on their friend who's trying to get through a 2++ two times?

Most likely 'free to stomp away', as they'd no longer be in the assault and are therefore free to make a consolidation move anywhere they'd wish that is outside of an inch from other models.
The only exception would be if they are in an assault that still has enemy units involved in it. (your example wasn't clear enough on which assaults have which participants in them)

I'll try to be clearer:
The 4 Paladins and the Librarian are in one unit. They're in combat with 3 Daemon Princes and a Contemptor. 2 of the Daemon Princes and the Contemptor smash their opponents, while the last Paladin survives due to his Warding Stave. Are they [Daemon Princes and Contemptor] still locked in combat with the last guy who they're not allowed to attack?

He could just decline the next challenge and you get to pick one demon to sit out while the dread and the other 2 stomp your face.
Although something doesn't sound right to begin with, there is no option for multiple challenges in the same close combat.

Yes they are still locked.
And there can only be one ongoing challenge per close combat.
Provided the Paladin killed the thing he was in a challenge with.
If not then the challenge continues until one dies or someone performs a heroic intervention.

Oh, totally forgot about that part. Cheers.

Ah, yep. Folks who indicate one challenge per assault have the correct answer, so your situation was a bit west of rules-legal. That said as there is still a surviving model from the enemy units, all of your allied models (the demon princes, et all) are still considered to be locked in combat until that one guy dies. I originally thought you were referring to multiple assaults occuring simultaniously with a group of solo paladins and a librarian.
