The second installment in High Moon's Transformers series does NOT disappoint. The campaign gameplay takes a turn from the first entry, War for Cybertron, by tailoring each level to a specific bot's abilities -- e.g., Cliffjumper's stealth, Jazz's grappling hook, Bruticus's ... ability to stomp the gak out of stuff, etc. Although this does cut down on the bots you actually get to play, it doesn't have any other limiting effect on gameplay. On the contrary, the levels feel more varied and much more cinematic than those of War for Cybertron. (Playing Megatron (for example) feels a lot more menacing because the level with him is designed to show off what a rampant badass he is.) Those of you who played that game know that such a remark is less a criticism of it than a compliment to Fall of Cybertron. And just like War for Cybertron, my only real complaint about Fall is that it is too short. That's not to say the fantastic story is incomplete or told too brusquely. It's just that I crave more solo gameplay. I can't speak to multiplayer as I haven't tried it yet.
As with its predecessor, I spent every frame of Fall of Cybertron wishing the Transformers movies had gone High Moon's route rather than Michael Bay's. The Transformers of the Cybertron games are both familiar to children of the eighties and other bot fans and at the same time fresh and entirely contemporary. IMO, the cartoons of yesteryear don't stand up much better than Bay's terrible movies. But High Moon has once again delivered on the full expectations of nostalgia, a notoriously difficult prospect. Still, the real challenge lays ahead as and when the studio decides to develop a third installment ... this time on Earth.

Could not agree more. My brother bought it for himself, but I...acquired it for playthrough one evening.
And then I discovered freaking was a playable character.
It was fantastic. I loved it. I could not stop smashing.

I'm going to get this when the price comes down, it looks awesome.
Have you tried the multiplayer yet?

I love this game so much. Pity poor Starscream gets it (it would seem).

I've played multiplayer, and very enjoyable but feels too small. Each class can use two weapons and an ability, but only has a selection of four weapons and two abilities. Armour customization was very over-exaggerated by the developers.

I also LOVED this game. Personally, it went up and beyond the War for Cybertron easily. The one thing that bummed me out was the lack of player choice in the campaign; but like you said, that made the levels better for the characters. Also, I really liked the weapon upgrade system, and the fact you could actually rate the weapons and their upgrades. Then, playing as Grimlock was just amazing for me since he's always been my favorite Autobot (Jazz being second). The final level was also tons of fun switching between Autobots and Decepticons mid battle. Also, the multiplayer feels way better than the first, but still could use some improvement, especially with customization.
Two things I straight up didn't like:
1.) Cliffjumper is just a re-colored Bumblebee.
2.)

I did not actually feel that armour customization was any small thing.
You could opt to buy the entire "set" or individual "pieces"--and in either case, you got to make your own Transformer!
I'm not aware of what the developers said, as I noted I had not really thought about playing this game.

I think this has been the case since gen1, at least toy-wise, with real differences emerging between them in later iterations.

I think that what he means is that you couldn't actually make your own Transformer, just takes parts and mash them together to make one made up of existing Transformers ... maybe.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, this game has been a blast from start to finish. Wasn't a big fan of the last one, but this ones much better. I hope the next one is all gen 1 set on earth.
Now all I need is a good GI Joe game to complete my journey back to childhood.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

Yeah, I remember that...but Cliff was a sports car in vehicle mode (a Porsche if I remember correctly). I just never liked how they where identical in the show, and wish they would have at least made the models a little different
