Okay maybe this would be better off in this subforum:

HQ
Captain with Relic Blade, Melta Bombs, storm bolter

Troops
Space Marines Tactical squad (10), free heavy weapon, melta gun, power weapon, Rhino
Space Marines Tactical squad, free heavy weapon, melta gun, power weapon, Rhino
Space Marine Scouts (10), Sergeant Telion, Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher

Elites
Plain Dreadnought
Plain Dreadnought

998 pts

----------------------
Items below are what I have on my shelf. Any suggestions what I can use from them to bump my 1000 pt list up to 1500 or 2000?

1 Command Squad (x4 Plasma Guns, Power fist and maybe the banner)
Razorback/Rhino
Space Marines Tactical squad, flamer, ML
x5 Tac Termies
x5 Assault Termies THSS
3 Land Speeders
1 Land Raider Redeemer
Dev Squad: using them for heavy weapons options in my tac squads

I'd like to run a Chaplin with the THSS Termies. At 1500 I'm thinking of dropping my Captain and just going with the Chaplin.

I kow you don't have one on your shelf, but a Librarian will outperform a Captain at almost any level, especially with the new psychic powers (yay biomancy/pyromancy).

That being said, Chaplain with the Close Combat Termies is a great choice. Liturgies of Battle rerollin' is always great when mixed with LC, but I'm not sure how it'll perform with TH. Toss em in a LR and it's magic.

Yeah my next purchases will be a lib and a chappie both in term armour.

I'm definitely going to be using the LR with the Termies. Is that too much for a 1500 pt list?

I sometimes feel bad putting a LR in a 1,000 point list, but have no qualms fielding one at 1,500. And a chaplain leading an assault terminator squad in one is a wonderful thing.

Do you have other weapon options for your dreads? If you are going to be fielding the stock MM dread, you should put them in drop pods. If you are just going to have a MM wandering about, I'd field it on a speeder, rather then a foorslogging dread.

Your first 500 point bump is going to be the termis in the LR (with a HQ swap)

Going to 2k, you could bring back the captain, with his command squad in a razorback. Pick up the speeders with the remainder of your points. Might be worth picking up and other full tac squad and cutting the scouts down to 5, depending on how expensive you field your speeders. I'd probably go with a pair of typhoon/HB and a suicide melta. Not sure how much the command squad is going to cost; I rarely field one and don't have my codex handy.

You have a pretty good collection of minis to work with. Other HQs would be nice, and plain dread aren't the best without pods. You could probably just mix and match anything there and have a playable army.

Naw I have the AOBR dreds. I'm thinking of proxying them as Ironclads and drop podding them. Depends on the points. I might just proxyswith the weapons to Lascans and a hvy flamer (or maybe plasma).

It's going to be a lot. I'm planning to kit them with PlasmaGuns. I don't know if I'm going to have the champion. I wasn't with 5th but with the challenge rules in 6th... maybe (I still think it's a sucky deal). I don't know if I'll put on the banner and a powerfist. As for the razor back, that will probably run at 75pts so the whole unit will be 290ish. I don't like that idea. It seems really expensive.

Thanks!

I like the concept of a captain and his command squad, but when it comes down to paying the points and putting them in a list, I generally pick something else instead. They make for an excellent troubleshooter unit. They can shoot, fight in close combat, kill tough stuff, etc. But they are rather expensive. For a ride, I'd just give them a plain HB razorback. No need to trick it out. Might even be worth it to just run with a rhino and stick a pair of plasma guns out of the hatch if you don't feel like disembarking but want to shoot.

I have 3 dreads in my collection. They generally see the field as a stock ironclad, an assault cannon/DCCW(sormbolter) and a TLLC/ML. The ironclad pods in, the other two either sit back and shoot, bolstering my gun line, or advance across the table. All depending on the list. The basic dread I see two uses for. Either do a suicide drop, or hang back incase someone trys to do that to you. If someone wants to play in your backfield, give them a face full of multimelta and dreadnought. That should keep your objective campers safe.

Of your core army I think the dreads are the weakest part. Not useless, but if you need to drop something, I'd cut them first.

I was thinking of using them as escorts for the LR making its termie delivery.

From 1000 points, I would prefer different dreads, then a librarian instead of captain and probably drop the power weapons.

Out of your models:
Razorbacks for one tactical squad.
Then command squad in a rhino.
With enough points left over for 3 landspeeders, let's say typhoon and 2 double MM.

This gives you more mobility and range, which you are really lacking.
Assault termies in a raider is a gamble but a nice gamble.
