Any advice on getting it back on securely? Crazy glue isn't cutting it.

Probably work

Try pinning it?

Do you think the chain is big enough to take the drilling? Maybe a subtle brace might work?

Hard to say really. I'd probably have to see it. Something I've done for insanely tiny details that have broken off is, rather than using brass rod, pin with paperclip and the thinnest drill bit I can find. It takes patience, and generally you have to do some touchup because you'll mar some detail, but it's the only real solution I know of.

Rebuilding it from GS is probably your only other option.

Smallest drill I use is 0.5mm, with same size pianowire for the actual pin. Can pin pretty much anything with that combo.

Another option as daedalus says is rebuilding the ball itself. As mentioned with GS, or cutting it out from plastic, or maybe even using a small plastic or wooden bead and covering that with liquid greenstuff and smoothing it with a file/sandpaper.

You'd likely want to pin it either way if you do any of the above, in which case my advice would be to invest in the smallest drillbits you can find.

Or just leave the ball off, and replace one of the heads of his regiment with it. That chain was bound to break one of these days...

Pin it and use JB Quick Weld. :-) For same things I have found JBM Quick Weld is all you need.

jb weld can glue planets together.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

You, sir, are amazing....

And correct. It's outside the box, but in this case outside the box is candyland. Hit the local hardware store and grab a tube of the good stuff. Just a tiny dab of it ought to be enough for this project. Follow the directions for appropriate setting/handling time, etc.

It'll be the toughest part of the miniature when you're done.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?
