On a distant planet, something Green looks up from the smooshed skull of its latest adversary and thinks to itself

WOT DA ZOG IS DAT

As Voyager nears the edge of our Solar system, which 40k race do you think would be the first to gaze upon the satellite and show interest as to where it came from?

Would it be the Eldar, who do not show anything other than a passing interest in such a primitive vessel or do they wish to discover a new race to take under their wing.

Actually come to think of it, which races are around at this current time? Eldar and Orks for sure and Necrons would be in their slumber, but the Age of Strife has not happened yet nor the Golden Age so no Mechanicus or distant human worlds. I suppose any number of the lesser Xenos races would be around and the Chaos Gods would still be in their dormant state

Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

The elder three are already awake...Eldar, they probably know what we're going to end up doing, but are too busy being perfect to do anything about it.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

Eldar three?

So what time are we up too, has the War in Heaven taken place yet. If I am right, then this happened about a bazzillion years ago and the Eldar are in the process of getting jiggy with about everything possible.

I definitely think it would be the Orks to show interest first, another potential race to smoosh would be too irresistible to them.

No...the ELDER three - Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle. They may have formed during the War in Heaven, but they 'woke up' during Earth's Dark Ages.

Well, Nids could already be out there and having some galaxy far, far way for a snack. We really don't know how old they are.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

OOOHHH Elder not Eldar

Sorry, misread what you posted.

Why do you think the Eldar would make first contact?

Because they already know where we are and what we are...seeing as Xenology and the oldcron codex has us as Old One creations or evolved on an Old One-influenced world respectively.

Do they show much interest in anything other than themselves though, regardless if we are a race created by the old ones or not?

I guess they might sit back and watch us from a far.

That's what they did...and I suspect they effectively let us rule the galaxy during the Golden Age of Technology, while they were busy enjoying themselves.

Probably Eldar. I feel like the Tau are the most inquisitive and open though so had they been around now with the technology they have in the 41st millenium then they would've been my guess.

Probably the Eldars or one of the races that ended up exerminated during the age of technology.

Orks are unlikely since humans haven't been slaughtered for fun (for the moment)
