Again, LotR. You could easily turn that game into the multiplayer dungeon crawl that you want.

I do have one more game to share... it's not a miniature game, but the card game Killer Bunnies: Quest for the Magic Carrot.
It's just a fun game, and part of the fun is seeing everyone's strategies fall apart. We've had as many as 10 people at the table playing... though it gets to be pretty long between turns with that many. It's a perfect game for 6 people, and a whole lot of fun because it's not serious at all!

@OP-yes, the FRAG we mentioned is the SJG. And since you answered my post about talisman...I have the full 3rd edition one myself-I had to cheat a bit with the dragon expansion because $250 for a single expansion is ridiculous, so I took a regular dragon from GW and found cutouts for the cards and the board on boardgamergeek. My buddies and I enjoy it, and when I get home, it'll be time to whip it out again.

Just to clarify, do all the players need to be playing at the same time, or are you looking for a game that they can all be involved in the same campaign together, but play 1 on 1 PVP battles individualy?
If you're looking for all 6 players to be on the same wargames board at once, there really aren't many warband wargames that will do that well. You're pretty much going to be limited to board games or wargames where each person controls one individual.
If you are instead willing to run a campaign where each player controls a warband and at different times will battle against the other players, then your options are wide open. If you want each player to control a small party (6-14 miniatures) in skirmishes with the option of also doing dungeon crawls run by a GM then a couple of good choices would be...
Mordheim (free from GW)
or
Song of Blades and Heroes.(SBH) Cheap and easy see my post above.
SBH is an ideal rules-lite system if you want to run a campaign where each player controls a small warband.
Here's a link to all the posts regarding a Song of Blades and Heroes campaign that my gaming group just finished up. It sounds like just what you are looking for and will give you some idea of what is involved in running a multiplayer "campaign" .
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/search/label/song%20of%20blades%20and%20heroes
-There were 5 players.
-One of the players GM'd and ran a warband,
-Scenarios took place in dungeons, cities and other locales.
We used the supplements Song of Deeds and Glory for campaign management and warband advancement and we used the suplement Song of Gold and Darkness for Dungeon scenarios.

This is gonna be slightly off the miniatures game flow, but a killer 6 person game with easy game mechanics that allows for people to drink beer & have side conversations is Settlers of Catan. While not quite what you are looking for, it is easily accessible at local bookstores or the mall and your FLGS might be able to run a demo with you.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Going to echo some of the others: Zombicide is an excellent game for 1-6 players. Also, Zombies!!! is a great game to pick up and play for a bit with 2-6 players.

Heroclix is good if you're into Superheroes...prepainted minis, tight rules. Games will be fast when you play on smaller scale. DC and Marvel, also expansions of Gears of War, Lord of the Rings, Street Fighter, and Star Trek all completely compatable.....have Akuma fight Superman if that's your schikt!
Wizards of the Coast has some board game versions of their D & D property. Up to 5 players and a DM. Games are actually better as you hit that 5 player mark. Wrath of Ashardalon, Castle Ravenloft, and Legend of Drizzt. All come with unpainted plastic minis. 4th ed D&d feel made three dimensional if you will. I played Wrath, it was really fun.
Fantasy Flight Games' Mansions of Madness. Lot's of fun. Another Gm vs. Up to 5 players sort of game set in a detective/Cthulu setting. Played it a couple of times and it was pretty fun. Unpainted plastic minis.

Raatcharch wrote:I'd recommend Battletech. It's a bit "old school", but it's totally still in production by Catalyst Games. Most gamers under 30 probably know it better via the "Mechwarrior" series of computer games.
It plays great with ~3 minis to a player. The rules are straightforward, and it is a lot of fun. It was my gateway drug into mini gaming.
You don't even need minis, really. The box set I have has cardboard stand-ups.
Otherwise, it sounds like you want to give HeroClix a try. It used to be WizKids, but I'm not sure who makes it after they went bankrupt. The game is still in production. Easy rules, prepainted figures, low figure count. Yeah, the more I think about it, this is what I'd recommend given your criteria. But Battletech is cooler.
I'd second Battletech, I played MechWarrior: Dark Age and Heroclix for awhile. WizKids lost the rights to MW but still produces Heroclix. I quit Heroclix last winter, the 'cheese' factor in that game escalated to a point that I just didn't wish to play anymore. Miniature games like Warhammer, Warmachine, and Battletech may have some level of 'cheese' factor to them but I found them to be much more enjoyable than Heroclix (particularly because you don't have to worry about figure 'rarity', in these miniature games you buy what you want to play with, build it, paint it, and go. In clix, if you don't have a load of money you might get stomped by people who do).
Hope that helps.
Edit:
Alternatively I play the Death Angel card game from Fantasy Flight Games, it can play with 6 players, it is a load of fun, and certainly a 'team' oriented game. I've also played the Resident Evil Card game, also a blast and can be team oriented. (I'd like to note these two card games are 'not' collectable card games, that is, they are basically board games with cards, there is no 'booster packs' or 'starter decks' or anything like that, they are relatively cheap and provide HOURS of game play per session).
I've been looking into getting my hands on a Space Hulk game (admittedly for me it is mostly for the figures) and I've been considering the Gears of War Board game, the youtube video showing the gears game off looked really fun and I enjoy 'team oriented' gameplay. With the number of players you have I'd look into some of these games as they are low cost (if you guys all pitch in), provide hours of gameplay per session, and are easy to put down and pick back up again.

And actually....you guys said you were Rpgr's. Friends of mine used to build single cahracter in 4th Ed D&d and pit them in arena style settings. If you're into 4th ed you'll know that it relies on maps and minis more so than any of D&ds other editions. What they used to dowas have a grab bag of minis (prepainted D&d plastics by WOTC) and make a character of predetermined lvl based on the character they pulled (what it looked like and such).
If you're a 4th ed player you've probably got everything it takes to get started book wise. No role playing, simply dropping the character you made (or teams of them) onto the map and usings the 4th ed combat rules.

I'm slightly surprised no one listed Twilight Imperium.
Behold its pure awesomeness:
You build the board yourself, command a space fleet, and engage in diplomacy and politics as you try to take over the galaxy. Great for 6+ players. I suggest you leave your day open as I've never played a game that lasted less than 3 hrs or so.

Eclipse is a faster playing 4x game that is similar to Twilight Imperium... throw in the expansion and you can play with up to 9 players! The D6Generation did a review a few months back, and I really want to get it. Best part? It doesn't have any vampires that sparkle.
