So I am in the middle of a dilema...
I am building a manticore/deathstrike at this very moment but my main problem is.... do I do the manticore or the deathstrike?
I know that the manticore will fire every turn but the death strike is S10 AP1 Superlarge blast but it has T-minus five minutes...and counting, that makes it require a 1 on the first turn to fire a 1-2 the second 1-3 the third and so on. So do I risk the thing not shooting or go the manticore and lose a superlarge blast?
Please respond ASAP my forgeworld renegade tank commanders came in today and I need to know what you guys think.

TOO MUCH CHAOS!!!

On moon miranda.

The manticore is the superior platform, the Deathstrike has a great possibility of destruction before getting to fire at all, and it may fire when you need it to fire, and does nothing for a turn 1 alpha strike that the Manticore is so beautiful at.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Manticore all the way. I always field mine and it has never let me down, great for popping tanks and light/medium infantry.

Something to remember is how lethal the game has become and that opponents normally move their stuff.

When you look at a deployment zone, you think 'man, the Deathstrike sure would make a mess of that!'. Then you use it, and by the time it fires, half of the opponents army is dead and the other half is so spread out that you're still only going to hit one squad.

I can see their use in Apocalypse, which will have plenty on the board still by the time it fores. But normal 40k? Manticores are the far better choice.

Manticores are great. Deathstrikes only become useful in Apoc.... after you put a Vortex warhead on it.

That's why you take 3 Deathstrikes. Roughly 42% chance that at least one will fire turn one.

I'm not familiar with the kit, can you magnetize it and use either? I would magnetize it even if it meant buying some needed bits to be able to use either, being able to toy around with variants without needing to buy/assemble/paint an entirely new kit is nice. Magnets are cheap That being said, I think Manticores are more reliable but Deathstrikes have a chance of being a lot more fun for both sides.

The deathstrike has a perfect zero percent chance of firing on turn one, even if you bring every single deathstrike model that GW ever produced.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

One is useful from turn 1. The other fires when it feels like it, but it's absolutely hilarious when it does.

Build both, and magnetize them. That way you have manticore for serious games, and the Deathstrike for when you're goofing around in fun games. Problem solved

I use the deathstike on Apocalypse tables, set way back. for normal size games I find the Manticore to be a better option myself. so many shots for four rounds!

OK, missed that bit. Then if you take 3 you've got an excellent chance of firing at least one turn two.

Manticore. No matter what, Manticore. However, I have wanted to always play the deathstrike. Everyone wants to play that, deep down inside, they want to.
