Subject: check this out, (its another political thread)
Just finished watching this video, I will reserve all comments about it, except to say that its intriguing, and has very little narration, so you can draw your own conclusions. it just plays a series of clips covering several topics and what Mr. Obama said in 2009 and what either has happened, or what Mr. Obama says now on the subject. The video can be seen here. Not trying to start another flame war, just wanting to post something that might teach a few people some things about our President. Enjoy.

That website hurt my brain.
I am never looking at the comments section of a political website again, or else I may go insane.
There was a woman insisting that: Fox news was the only non left wing news source, Obama was a Muslim and has admitted it many times, Obama used over ten different aliases throughout his school and college career in order to deceive America, the democratic party is working entirely for corporations and banks (and the republican party isnt), and many more amazing revelations that have taken a portion of my faith in humanity.
Why is the comments section to everything always full of the silliest comments ever?

Why do people even post or create this kind of video? The amount of trivial horsegak that gets brought to the fore in American politics, and then posted here in the OT, is embarrassing.
I also think it's simply fantastic that people can be so moronic as to pin the blame on a single politician if they can't fix all the problems 'instantly' within a single term, irrespective of what came before them.
Perhaps have a little refresher of the last administration? Big business screwing over Americans by stealing public money during Iraq, but it's OK because they were part of the old boys club. That missing money can be written off as part of the fun of war, right?
That video and those comments make me sick. The video's set out in such a way that they seem to say that good things don't exist and that neutral things are bad, while the comments...
Case Closed: If Moderate Voters See This Video, It’s Over for Obama
...and you didn't want to start a flame war?
At least, unlike several other threads posted here recently, the OP did no use the title of the article. I can't speak to his motivations but it really bothers me when the title and content don't match. Especially when the title is deliberately inflammatory.

I agree. Its why, when I start threads, I try to get people to click with some technique that isn't related to the topic; or is at least apolitical. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't attack the content of the post itself.
That said, I generally fail at neutrality.

Point 1 made in the piece - Obama's rhetoric on transperancy didn't match his actions. Is a fair point. I mean, we could point out that basically everyone wanting to win office sincerely believes in being accountable once they're in office, and never is, but that wouldn't excuse Obama on the issue.
Point 2 made in the piece - Obama wanted Cspan coverage of the healthcare debate, but didn't get it because it wasn't his to ensure. Is true, but completely pointless.
Point 3 made in the piece - Obama wants to get rid of private insurance. Is a complete lie that should be clear to anyone who watches the video and has at least half a functioning brain. The article plays a crude two card trick, stating 'private insurance' in text, and then give a piece with Obama talking about 'employer provided insurance', and expect people who like to believe bad things about Democrats to wilfully ignore the differences.
Point 4 made in the piece - ACA is a stepping stone to single payer healthcare. Is a complete lie that, once again, should be clear to anyone who watches the video and has managed to maintain, despite watching this video, at least half a functioning brain. It's another two card trick, first showing Obama explaining ACA won't lead to single payer, then showing Obama saying he wants single payer. This time they're expecting the halfwit nodding heads watching this thing will choose to ignore the obvious point that Obama didn't put up the bill he wanted, he put up the bill he thought he could pass.
Point 5 made in the piece - there's no tax hike on the middle class to pay for the expansion of coverage. Then you get Republicans bickering with Obama and claiming the mandate is a tax increase.... and completely ignoring the fact that it only applies to people who do not take out coverage, and in exchange it means if they do get sick they can go and get coverage. They then played funny buggers by confusing tax in legal concept with tax as its commonly used.
Point 6 made in the piece - Obama argued for everyone to pay their fair share... and then had the bailouts, after which GM didn't pay tax. Which shows they have no idea in the past losses section of the tax code, or that they know about it but don't care, because they're trying to lie to people. They then play the same stupid game with GE, showing the same level of ignorance or dishonesty when it came to consolidated companies, and the way a parent company can receive income from subsidiaries that has already been taxed.
Point 7 made in the piece - is entirely incoherent. It is talking about the stimulus, and then quotes GDP figures being high in 2010, and low in 2012. Wouldn't that be evidence of the stimulus effect of the bill?
Point 8 made in the piece - that Cap and Trade and other programs will make it expensive to use high carbon emitting energy production. Well fething duh, that's how it works.
Point 9 made in the piece - Obama was for cutting the deficit, but then didn't in his term. Well, of course, when recession happens the books get worse even when you're not trying to drive stimulus.
It's one half decent point and then just a great big load of bs. It's the stuff that people cannot be tricked by if they even half think them through. And yet we've our newest member of the usual suspects, jordanis, here pretending it has real, substantial points in it.
My question is how? How can someone come to so want to believe a political ideology that they'll switch their brains off and pretend this nonsense is legitimate? Do people so want that fantasy to be true more than they want to be intelligent?
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Thats it! At least all the other republican representatives of Dakka make intelligent, informative and mostly entertaining posts, but you just parrot the moronic and blatantly false pack of lies that passes as "information" for Republican talking heads these days without even realising that as soon as those "facts" get exposed to a non-brain-dead viewer / reader, they are easily disproved.
Either you are blatantly mocking everyone or even worse, you actually believe the lies you are spreading, in either case that makes your posts worthless to read IMO, so welcome to my ignore list, say "hi" to Jihadin for me while you are there...
