I havent had time to really play much since 6th ed came out due to work but before 6th I played a Raven Guard army and I have really liked the Shrike model and the fluff. I used to run mostly scouts drop pod dreads, assualt marine, some assualt terminators adn a 5 man VV squad with lightning claws for fluff. But now that 6th is out we see some serious nerfs to Shrike as a viable model

lightning claws are ap3
cannot assualt on the first turn if you infiltrated
fleet no longer allows you to assualt and Run
Combat Tactics is a lot better than before

I was wondering as if anyone had any advice as to how to try and make him viable in an army or is it time to pack the model up and run another commander for my Raven Guard, and go to more of a shooting army.

Shrike is useless in the army style I played. That being siad, someone else may be able to get him to work. The devestating thing about shrike was putting him in a unit of L-Claw termies and having them at your enemies doorstep on turn 1. Sadly that isint possiable now. So, IMHO, no he is no longer worth the points. Huh.... Kinda like the old C'tan.

Old C'tan was a dealbreaker for some armies. Id still love to have him in my Newcron army.

Oh I would too, dont get me wrong, but vs typhus, or any gk, or almost anythign with a force weapon or ID psychic power? even against snipers, he is 365 points of dead. (nightbringer of course)
