Looking at the terminators, I grew suspicious of something. I decided to run with this suspicion, and reached for my space hulk box, and checked the terminator sprues. Sure enough, (that's it, I hate my bloody damn iPad, I,m going to put this through a crapple store window, this machine keeps correcting things even when I stab the x.................) anyway, sure enough, I noticed straight away that two of the terminators are recycled. The angles make it difficult to tell, but it looks to me like 3 of the dark vengeance dark angel terminators are identical to the space hulk blood angel ones. Only cosmetic differences present themselves in the way of chapter badges and tabards...did anyone else catch anything else?
I really do mean that the models are recycled, as the postures are identical.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

I haven't noticed anything yet. But as a DA player who always wanted to buy SH termies with the sole purpose of dashing the BA heraldry and replacing it DW heraldry I got no problem with it. They do it all the time. I think the first time I ever noticed it was the very first Harlequin box set from RT days. They saved me some time and for the next four years I got kitbash material for $5. a pop.

I hadn't compared them that closely, but I'm not surprised. GW have been re-using base figures with different details added on for... well, pretty much forever.

I was thinking about converting my Space Hulk terminators into Deathwing, and when I went to examine them, I did notice the chainfist guy has the exact same pose as the chainfist guy in the Dark Vengeance box set, except noticeably more Blood than Dark Angels.
They're still cool models though, and wouldnt deter me from making said conversions.

I am ok with this, the SH models are fantastic. If only there was a set with such a good opportunity for chaos resculpts.

I unfortunately do not own spacehulk but I did notice that the Hellbrute is on the back of the rulebook. Thought it was just dark vengence one but sure enough it's on the normal one as well.

I noticed straight away. Two of the Ravenguard bikes are duplicate. The Chosen bolter marine is a duplicate, and I'm pretty sure the cultist squads are 4 pairs of duplicates for the basic weapons. Basically, anything on the 'common' sprue you got two of is a duplicate, because that whole sprue is duplicated. Pretty sure one or two Tacticals got duplicated too, even though they're on the Dark Angels only sprue.

That's to be expected of any starter set though. AoBR was much the same. What the OP is getting at is that some of the models are exact duplicates of models from another boxset entirely. In this case, an entirely different game (Space Hulk).

I guess it's like the RPG developer's mantra: Re-size, Re-stat, Re-color.
What I'm trying to say is that to make development a lot easier, you'll see a lot of stuff that's basically the same, but with minor variations. It keeps things feeling different while making stuff easier on the developer by not having to re-do all the design work every time they add something new.
It's a bit of a metaphor, but it makes sense in my crazy mind.

I get that, but it's not exactly like that's development though now, is it? Repackaging something and modifying a few cosmetic parts, then proceeding to pretend that it's something new? I'm really not cool with that. I was already really, thoroughly and quite upset with the fact that the starter set was going to be dark angels vs csm. I was sooooooo hoping that the Eldar v CSM was going to come true. finding out that there's copies in this box on top of my dissapointment makes me a bit upset with the money I spent on this kit. I know that development is expensive, and as good as the chaos were, the DA, from my way of looking at it, were a total flop. I wasn't ever keen of the cultists (more of a blood-pact fellow myself), all that was left were the DA I knew the line marines would be stock and standard, so I'm a bit upset with the terminators, as, really, only one terminator of the 5 is worthwhile (studded fist).
I knew well enough to get my hopes down when I opened the box, and the previews I saw around here helped against the dissapointment, but.. man.... I'm dissapointed! The only redeeming feature I saw about this kit were the CSM chosen and character... I know it's a starter kit, but i feel ripped off given the trouble i went through to get that space hulk kit.
