Hello all!
I have decided recently to make a vampire counts army based off the Undead Scourge from Warcraft lore, and decided to turn to this great community for further ideas, unit ideas i have so far:
*Arthas - Vampire Lord, using a conversion of archaeon, saurons helm, and either sword from belkaor or one from Reaper Minis (great conversion idea came from whiskeytango over on warseer)
*Liches - Necromancers, not sure of what model to use to make the imposing forms they take in Warcraft
*Sindragosa - Zombie Dragon, or Terrogheist, the actual gw box might make for a good start to this behemoth, though some work obviously would be needed
*San' layn - caster themed Vampire thralls, a casterish looking elf with facial covering should suffice
*Blood Queen Lanathel - Varghulf, start with a base model of something angelic or succubus related and do some fine touches
*Deathknights - Important ones combat vampires or Wight Kings, lesser ones could take the place of graveguard, this is probably my biggest issue trying to find a suitable model, or conversion process, chaos warriors are to bland to base them off of, and would require much trouble to make two handed sword users, not to mention very little to no individuality which I am trying to avoid.
*Mounted Deathknights- Bloodknights or Black knights will work well, chaos knights look to be a good base, aswell as the hexwraith/black knight box from gw, would be nice to find arms to accommodate two handed weapons though.
*Valkyr - Vargheist, again angelic or succubs winged creations should work well, no matter what though might have to tone down the facial features to have the more formless features they possess.
*Abominations - Crypt Horrors, not sure what to base these off, maybe some Undead ogres?
*Skeletons and Zombies - nothing really needed here they are easily individualized and acquired.
*Banshees and Wraiths - also easily transferable
*Nerubian Spiders - Direwolves, maybe some converted up goblin spider riders mounts?
* Nerubian Cryptlord - Black coach? alternative Varghulf? maybe a hive guard as a base model
*Plague Wagon - Corpse Cart, could possibly base it off of the gw corpse cart box, not to sure

Well there it is so far, atleast as far as my ideas for unit translation goes, any and all help is greatly appreciated as far as modeling ideas, unit ideas, or practically anything else concerning the subject goes, I am quite open and happy to hear/know about alternative ranges and such that have models that will fit to this so let me know, thanks for taking a look!

Just as a note, the Vampire Lord included with the Zombie Dragon would actually be a pretty good fit for Arthas.

Never much considered him to be honest, though maybe alittle small in stature but I will definetly look into it, I am thinking of using evlad as the base for Arthas on foot. Any ideas on models to make deathknights out of? I should be picking up some of the things to begin in a wk or so I will start a modeling thread for it when I start getting some work done. Actually the poster who mentioned the zombie dragon riders, they might be good death knights? At least the armour looks quite cool for it.

lol maybe I should have specified, dismounted death knights are what I am at a loss for at the moment, mounted ones I think a mix of vc black knights and knights of chaos would produce some good results after work of course, warriors of chaos would be great for foot death knights if they weren't so static, and without arms to hold two handers. I will definitely be picking up a terrogheist box, for the skeletal dragon parts, so I can definitely take a close look at the mounted vamp that comes in the box, since two posters have made reference! A few reaper minatures minis I dug up, that look like they could fit the bill nicely, aswell as a weapon pack for what miniatures I find to convert death knights en masse from

I have also been surfing around looking for foot deathknight models, and I came across Avatar of wars upcoming Corrupters models, I need to see some more on them, they might be to "plaguey" maybe for unholy dks with some work, I plan on doing 20 of each aspect, with glowing eyes and runes matching ie; blue(frost), red(blood), green(unholy). although wouldn't so many Death Knights be overkill? how common are they?
i think that a Blood knight unit and some converted Heroes would be plenty Death Knights in one army.
