Subject: Question about the Decimator. 2 Saves?

The FW Decimator Daemon Engine has the Daemon special rule which confers a 5+ IV save and causes fear in CC. As well, it naturally can ignore a lost weapon or imbolized result on a 5+. So, with that being said can it take its 5+ iv save, fail a save and then ignore a result on a 5+?

Assuming you believe that vehicles are allowed to use invulnerable saves, then yes. There is no reason why those rules would be mutually exclusive in any way. Many, if not most, people seem to play that they do, otherwise things like DE Flickerfields wouldn't work. (If someone can find a page reference to show that vehicles in general can use invulnerable saves, then I'll be very happy to hear it.)

Wounds are equated to penetrating/glancing hits.

And yes, many vehicles have IV saves. This has the Daemon universal rule which says "confers 5+ IV". Even if its a vehicle, so does this also mean that soulgrinders have this?

Page ref? The only thing I've seen that comes close to saying this is the rules for Obscured vehicles, which allows them to take cover saves against glancing/penetrating hits in the same way as a non-vehicle does against Wounds. I cannot for the life of me find anything to say that this also applies to invulnerable saves. Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm aware of this; my contention is that there appears to be nothing to say that a vehicle may use any invulnerable save it has to stop glancing or penetrating damage.

Assumign that the Decimator gets both the "Damon" and the "Unholy Vigour" rules (thus gettgin 2 saves) I would think that it would go in this order:
Roll to hit Decimator = HIT
Roll for penetration =Penetrating hit
--Rol Invul save to see if hit is ignored = FAIL
Roll for damage = Weapon Destroyed
--Roll for Unholy Vigour = PASS
<Weapon Destroyed ignored, but it still loses the HP as it suffered a Pen Hit>

Correct! That seems the way it works. It has both Daemon and Unholy Vigor. The nice thing though is once it loses its last HP it counts as destroyed, which then it gets unholy Vigor!

If you get that far - last 3 games its gone to the first penetrating hit. First turn, 3 in a row...
Why do the pretty models have to die first?

Because they destroy everything. I had mine take out a raider then a blight drone followed with the clean-up. Makes a nice combo having a flying leman russ

The answer to this is found by reading the Soul Grinder special rules section carefully p45. In short, the answer is no.

Yes you do. Unholy Vigor is basically FNP for vehicles. Just like Living Metal (although a bit more useful) Now as for the Soulgrinder having the invul...I dunno.
