Subject: Two things from the FAQ that make me wonder, was ANYONE playing them this way?
Actually, Gandalf said said "You cannot pass!", not "You shall not pass!"
Not that it matters.
7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

Everywhere I've traveled, I usually wind up meeting at least one or two guys who play a couple of things differently. Or who play the same because the event has a FAQ, but disagree with different parts of the FAQ than I do.
It is almost like 40k is some sort of religion!
Dose that make Kirby the Pope?
Anyway, I had been playing that hover flyers still have skyfire. Oh well, just means I have to control my Stormravens better.

Ok, thanks, I didn't know that in the movie he said shall not pass. In the books he said, and I quote:"You cannot pass. I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass."

You probably have noted that the movie didn't follow the books in all aspects. It's still both a quote from Gandalf.

I've never heard of anyone playing it any other way - I was surprised the FAQ needed to comment on it at all! The rules for emplaced weapons are pretty clear that you have to be in base to base to use it, after all... I've been standing on the roof from day one.
This. I only played with a Bastion once, in an early game of 6th, but I had a squad on the roof to shoot the gun.
We did have a discussion of what cover save the battlements gave though.
And I never thought hovering fliers had skyfire. RAI, A fast skimmer is low to the ground (you know, skimming), why would it still be able to shoot at airplanes? It has skyfire by virtue of the fact that it's up in the sky zooming around.

That's just your interpretation of it. Other people interpreted it differently on other assumptions, which were just as baseless as yours.
As for "a fast skimmer is low to the ground". Maybe give the eldar codex a read?

sudojoe wrote: The issue with purgation squads is that INAT basically clarified that if you have say a 2+ cover save from like stealth/shrouding, then you get a 4+ cover, it doesn't replace your 2+ cover. You can still use your 2+ cover save against the attack unless of course somehow night time was happening.
Purgation squads don't have anything out of 36' so I'm not even really sure what the point of this FAQ was for. Seems to be more confusing now. I suppose it would affect any IC's attached though who may have better weapons i.e. conversion beamer as that's the only one I can think up.
I know this is the home of INAT, but I don't think it's perfect -- and that ruling in particular, I'd disagree with. Anyway, it's a fairly useless power to start with.
If a purgation squad (or even an IC in a purgation squad) was firing a gun emplacement, you would indeed have a gun over 36" that could benefit from that power. Same as a Shas'El firing it can use it's blacksun filter.

Huh?
We have an understanding of any argument over rules that can't be settled quickly with a rule check = logic wins.
Oh, no, don't be like that it. If you simply settle arguments with logic, what the heck do you think the rest of us were doing? Everything would be so logical and sensible, if they'd just shut up and do it your way, yeah?
