I am putting together a guard list for a 1750 NOVA mission-type tournament and wanted some input. I think I have a pretty solid base to work with that I have outlined below. My trouble is that I'm not sure how to spend the remaining 210 points.

Should I take another squad of veterans? Another tank? Allies? I have thought of a bunch of different possibilities, but I cannot settle on any one of them as something else seems better. So please help me decide what I need to add to make my list even more deadly.

Two caveats though.
1. I would like to keep my allies Imperial.
2. I'm not going to buy valkyries. I don't care for the models and it doesn't fit in with how I think about my army.

why vulters ? I dont understand that. you dont want to run valks , but why run bad units ?
you should be runing more plasma vets then melta vets this edition .
ST make cost too much . drop them .

I would add a SW rune priest to get the rune staff and choser to stop shoty infiltrators geting close and a unit of 10 GH with 2 plasma guns totem MoTW power ax and a WG leader with a stormshield combi plasma power sword and terminator armor.
cheap , it is battle brother . GH are good counter unit and a +2sv/+3inv WG can tank a lot of melee and shoting hits.

I know that a vendetta is a better way to bring lascannons. But i think the vulture is a descent alternative. Especialy with the punisher cannon being a good answer to flyers and ground targets.

The storm troopers are pricey, but allow me to take out armor that is far away. Without that i am not sure how i would deal with tanks that decide to stay back.

The wolves are descent but i worry that as a single unit they would not survivr very long as my opponet zeroes in on them. I will consider them thouh, thanks.

Heavy flamers on the Russes are pointless. You can't snap fire templates, so they'll never get a shot unless the main gun is destroyed.

How about adding some chimeras? They would fill some points and make squishy vets and CCS less squishy. The CCS could also do with some upgrades.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

I have two chimeras. I suppose I can give them to two vet squads.

The reason I didn't go nutty upgrading the command squad is I figure I already had BS4 on most of my troops so it wasn't as crucial to give stuff to my command squad since it's so fragile.

What were you thinking? Plasma?

I though the same and it is true . but what would you rather have the focus on a unit of t4+3sv dudes with a +2sv dude in front and maybe wipe them out or wipe out a unit of vets or storms for sure . yes focus fired on they die , but everything that is not a flyer die from focus fire . And the Rune Priest is just awesome , cheap with good powers . jaws and LL or storm to have walking cover for an IG blob are great , at least for my army . I would take a RP even if the GH unit would be just 5 dudes with a plasma gun . Would still be worth the utility he brings.

Look at grey knights specifically the inquisitor that allows henchmen as troops. Then add an assassin.

1 x Inquisitor 100
10 x Troopers in Carapace - bolters w 3 plasma 117
1 x Vindicare 155

372

Lose 1 vetsquad and you can afford it otherwise drop the vindicare but I think that is the point.

Personally, Ogryns (probably not good for this list) and Ratlings ara handy. If you deploy them right you can take out those pesky units and other small annoyances. You could take another Infantry Platoon or run some Penal Legion (I ran them before and loved them). Hellhounds are good and Scout Sentinels with the right upgrades are cheaper and more effective than ST's.
The best thing I would go for would be either Bastonne or Harker. Their invaluable heroes.
Just throwing in my two cents

I was thinking about bringing Coteaz. That guy is a bargain at 100 points. I guess the only problem that I see is that he has to be pretty self contained since he can't join guard units or cast psychic powers on them.

Does it make sense to take the henchmen without taking some of the other henchmen options. Otherwise, they're just vets with boltguns who have a worse ballistic skill. I guess the monkey guy seems pretty cool since he's a walking multi-melta or lascannon.

The vindicare is mean, but costs as much as a tank for a 2 wound model that can't join other units.

I like to have my CCS as quite a low profile unit with a lascannon, sniper and if points permit MoO. They are great for MC hunting or popping transports, especially if your CC jumps on a Quad gun from ADL

Coteaz gives you psychic power. That in itself is worth it. I went with plain henchemen seeing they are armed and armored just like your vets. 2 boxes of SM scouts and a little modification to 3 of them with plasma and you are done. I think the vindicare is worth it. He can drop IC, MC, heavy weapons or CC specialists and not least of all can drop a tank. I have found that dropping the vindicare ends up being a focus of the enemy and well worth it even if he does end up dead.

The other thought would be to add 2 hellhounds or wolfhounds to your army. Use them to herd your opponent away from the flanks of the LRs.

After some thinking I am leaning towards bringing some sister allies. I already have models for the Sisters as I plan to build an army of them so that's also a bonus.

I included two options at the bottom. I would appreciate some help on deciding which would work better.
