This looks to be another book which I will be picking up...
It is sad though, FW with their relative shoe string staffing compared to the guys over at GW, and what they produce on pretty much every level is so much more appealing. They even manage to price things competitively against plastic and finecast produced en masse.

Clearly not so 'obvious'. Although I'm not sure the reaction was us being insulted so much as it was a collective facepalm at the apparent misuse of the word 'chav'.
Well me that's all awesome. I may have to actually get something from Forge World now. Those jetbikes and a squad of those terminators will look awesome in my army.

No. Just like you can't play an ork army without your opponent's permission, unless you're going to hold a gun to their head and force them to play against you.
Ok, serious answer, everything FW produces is 100% official and intended for use in standard games of 40k and/or Apocalypse. The most likely outcome will the that the upcoming book offers an army list and/or units for 40k, with the special campaign missions (as noted in the picture a few posts ago) only meant to be played between opposing pre-heresy marine armies (or other scenario-specific forces as appropriate). However, since we don't know much about it yet, it's possible (but unlikely) that this stuff won't be balanced for normal 40k and will only be intended for use in the special campaign missions.

I dunno, Vit, I got the impression these were an entirely separate affair from standard 40k games. Although, there's nothing stopping people from using the rules against a standard 40k army I suppose.
I'm really, really wanting to get a copy of this, but the indefinite length of the series worries me. A 3 book investment just for the read alone would be an easier sell for me, but potentially having 5-10 books at $75-100 just isn't gonna happen, especially when it would cost a small fortune to build a proper pre-heresy force with all the FW bling. I'm really glad they are doing it, though. Even if it ends up being too rich for my blood this is going to be a cashcow for FW, and they deserve every penny.
You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

I guess they could do it that way if there were certain design elements they wanted to include in the Heresy game that would make it incompatible with 40k, but it would be pretty stupid to rule it out without a good reason. Very few people are going to buy an entire Heresy army if they can only play it in specific scenarios against another Heresy player, it's just too much of a cash investment (especially at FW prices!). On the other hand, they have a lot of potential sales to marine players if they make as much of it as possible compatible with standard 40k.

What I am really looking forwards to are the Thousand Sons (hopefully sticking to the front cover of the BL book of the same name), now that would be amazing and a must have army for my collection. Using Scibor parts is just not the same somehow.
Was there a loyalist legion that was always present at the main conflicts?
Don't know whether to get some heresy stuff and do more spacewolves (13th great company) or start a new sm army But then not be able to use the superheavies in normal 40k games
Well, there went my money for the foreseeable future, dammit.
Those Cataphracti terminators "swoon" I've been holding off getting the Tartaros pattern for my pre heresy iron warriors because i didn't like the look.
The only thing that struck me as odd was the Jetbike. It is completely different from all the jetbike art in the Visions book. I wonder if that was a conscious decision to divert or because 3rd parties make one that looks close.
