Walls of texts get really irritating. How come there isn't a limit on the amount of posts that are automatically quoted to prevent the huge nested quotes that can make pages unreadable?

Unnessesarily extravegant word of the week award goes to jcress410 for this:

They're not really unreadable... The quote is in its own quite visible walled-off section, so however large it is you can just skip to the bottom of the quote block.


Having said that, limiting the number of nested quotes to one or two isn't a bad idea. Wouldn't completely solve the issue, since quoting massive blocks of text happens just as often as nested quotes... And I have no idea how much programming would be involved.

Not much. It'd be pretty easy to write PHP code to check the number of quotes in a post you want to quote, and snip off any beyond a certain amount.
