Down on the tactics forum I was discussing what load outs I wanted to have for my Land Raider. I decided on 5 Assault Terminators with 2 having LC and 3 having SS/TH plus a Terminator Chaplain. A feller said that I could use regular Terminators because of the Relentless rule. They could dismount fire then assault in Hand to hand. I think this is wrong. The Regular Marine Codex (I know vanilla or Ultra Marine codex but I love flash glitz so much) says the LR is an assault vehicle (PG 81) and that troops may assault from the vehicle. This means hand to hand. The 6th ed rule books says assault is HTH.
Am I wrong?

With a LR you can use Standard Termies, disembark, shoot, than assault the unit you just shot.
Assault termies, Disembark, Assault. Automatically Appended Next Post: It's worth noting you're talking about assault terminators, but it's titled Assault Marines (jump infantry) ^^

Any kind of unit choice may assault out of an assault vehicle, unless some other overriding rule states otherwise. (ie: The landraider had been deepstriking that turn, or the unit fired non-assault weapons after disembarking)
So terminators, assault terminators, ICs, smurfs, etc; whatever comes out of that landraider has been given permission to assault that turn. They can shoot too, subject to the normal restrictions on such.

I think he believes that units coming out of an assault vehicle can only assault, not shoot.
@OP: Yes, regular Terminators can disembark an assault vehicle, fire their Storm Bolters, Heavy Flamers and/or Assault Cannons and then assault.

You gotta watch them smurfs... They get seriously nasty on charges.

An important distinction to draw, as it looks like the OP is new and may be confused, is that you never assault DIRECTLY from a vehicle. The Assault Vehicle rule allows a unit to assault in the SAME TURN that they disembarked from the vehicle. Note that this still has to happen in the movement phase. So the sequence is:
Movement Phase: Assault vehicle drives up 6".
(still in the) Movement Phase: Embarked unit gets out, moves up to 6:.
Shooting Phase: Unit can now shoot if it wants to.
Assault Phase: Unit can now assault; but remember it's only allowed to assault the same unit it shot at. If that unit is dead, you can't assault. The only exception is that if you shoot at and destroy a transport, you ARE still allowed to declare an assault on the guys who were inside it at the time.
