I recently bought a 5 man Incubi squad for my Dark Eldar/Grey Knight army and I would like to know what is the best way to send them into battle. A venom with two Splinter cannons allowing it to deal a deadly 12 poisoned shots a turn. Softening an enemy unit for the incubi to get stuck in. Or on the other hand the Raider which not only would allow me to take out tanks with the Dark Lance would also allow me to attach my Archon to the unit making them even deadlier. I can't decide which one to get so it would be really helpful if you could give me your reccomendations. Thanks!

Archon? In a DE army?

But seriously, go venom. You should have tons of anti tank elsewhere and your dreams of busting a landraider and using your incubi to kill the innards will never come true.

Also the Venom has free flickerfields

If you are going second you'll appreciate those, as Jink only works if you are moving..

I don't have the Dark Eldar codex yet but would I be right to say that flickerfields cove them a 5+ Invunlerable save?

That's the ones.

Given that it's an open-topped AV 10 skiff, those fields will really help

Only razorwing jetfighter and voidraven bomber are flyers for us, we don't get to be cool and have flyer transports like them necrons.

I personally like using raiders as assault unit's transport, they're more disposable, get assaulted? Who cares, the assault unit should hopefully be disembarked by then! Or I could just get more venoms so I don't have to be stingy on them. Oh decisions, decisions...

You would be shocked how often DE players make those flickerfield saves. I've played games against a DE opponent where it took him three turns before he failed one, and I was pouring on the fire the whole time.

Wait so how much points are the Raider and Venom, box standard, no upgrades? Thanks!

You probably have to use the codex there, don't think we're allowed to post point cost for each unit... But unupgraded raider cost a bit more than venom, without the free flickerfield.

[offtopic]And, very true, Brother SRM, my friends hate my flickerfield, but now I hate my tau-friend's disruption pod... AV13 and shrouded jink save?! [/offtopic]

I say Venom. I like to use them for assault units. Yes it makes the units smaller and more vulnerable to shooting but when my Venom moves, the wyches disembark and both of the splinter cannons (and the wych squad's pistols) shoot at the unit I'll be charging... overwatch becomes a lot less scary.

I shall rule the world someday utilizing my cuteness. And I already have one minion to help me do it!

Of course it makes sense. When there are a bunch of BDSM clowns doing Olympic gymnast routines throughout your unit, while also cutting off heads, you tend to get a bit distracted.

You can also consider a Haemonculus with 4 Incubi in a Venom - cheaper than an archon, and gives a pain token to the squad, too.

I think the venom is 60pts box standard isn't it?

Not supposed to discuss points values directly on here.

It's a nono

It did for me, back in the days of 5th. That Raider was reviled around the store for having a very impressive kill streak, including a Land Raider.

Venom is probably tne better choice of the two but a huskblade/soul trap Archon with shadowfield adds considerable killing power to the unit. All depends on what you prefer.

It depends on what your other army composes of though, I'd never take a raider for only 5 men.

Overall the raider has less mobility due to its model size as and costs more overall, unless you are running very low on Dark Lances or other Anti Tank stuff you should bring venoms as a general rule of thumb.
A nightshielded raider costs more than the venom with its splinter cannons but the venom is so much more deadly.

Personally I like Raiders better since they are Kabals and I am sort of a Kabal Fan, if they made a Hamie Transport then I might differ but as for now Kabal it is.

I take raiders for 3 man wrack units .

Lets me get a lot of hulls on the board, with half-decent anti-tank, and small scoring units ideal for objective camping or annoyance tasks.

A Haemie transport would be awesome though

I also take venoms, especially for wyches.

Taking just one kind isn't as good for me as a mix of both

Don't disregard the power of disintegrator spam. If you take haywire scourges you free up anti tank from your transports. Disintegrators have to be my favourite anti-TEQ EVER!
