Hey guys, I'm making a themed army of Imperial Guard that are supposed to mimic a Panzer Division and I've also decided since IG seem to fit more of the WW1/WW2 theme I'd go with that color scheme instead of the modern camo Deutschland uses today for their Panzergrenadiers.

I'd like some tips on how to get these colors in the pictures below, one being for my troops and the other for my tanks.

That sort of steel blue/grey the Germans are known for I guess, I figure there's quite a bit of this so people are used to mimicing it already but I'm not very artsy or color coordinated so wasn't sure what to use haha.

I'd say if you want a crazy easy way to get the colors right grab the Flames of War German Panzer color set. It runs about $18 and has exactly what you need in it.

Are they as high a quality as GW paints?

Unless they changed something - they are VMC paints with a new sticker on them...so I would say as good or better than GW.

You can also buy armor paint sets from Vallejo directly or use paint reference charts for model armor kits to use Humbrol, Tamiya, Testors or other companies paints (also as good or better than GW).

They are still VMC, with a different sticker.

As to quality...... I have found that VMC, Vallejo, Reaper, all offer amazing paints, (some better than others just like in the GW line). There are major differences, first the price is much better for more paint, 2nd they are in dropper bottles so mixing is easy and consistent, dropper bottles dont dry out nearly as fast and if they get clogged for some reason they are very easy to clear.

In addition to the Vallejo Model Color others are talking about, the Vallejo Model Air has these colors too and are pre-thinned for an airbrush, though they brush on beautiful as well. the VMA line has such fine colors as "German Grey" "German Green" "Tank Brown" "Panzer Olive Green" among MANY MANY MANY others.

So iI have to think that you are going to find the colors you are looking for in the VMA or VMC lines with zero problems.
