I always envisioned Obi-Wan having squared off against Anakin on a lava planet. Looking back, I think this was because I pored over the old Ralph McQaurrie art book and there was a concept of Luke fighting Vader before the Emperor in a lava-lit setting. That and I think somewhere (in the novelizations?) there was mention of Obi-Wan leaving Anakin for dead in a lava pit.

I think that was the novelization for ESB.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

When it comes to the love story in the Prequels I believe it was famous whit and critic/character assassin Yahtzee Croshaw who described Anakin and Padme's chemistry as "Two chairs stacked together" and frankly comparing them to inanimate objects is being generous.

When you read the novelization of Attack of the Clones, Salvatore did a much better job of making them fall in love believable. It wasn't that stupid "Get away from me you creepy stalker, oh who am I kidding, I love you." crap.

I never really had a preconception of the prequels. Even so I was still hugely dissapointed by them.

That is a perfect description of it.

Now, I do think you need a tragic love story in the prequels. We all should have seen that one coming although to be honest I never gave it much thought at all.

I always thought the clones would be of the Jedi themselves but turned evil. So when Obi-wan tells Luke that Darth Vader murdered Anakin, it would actually be true as Darth would have been Anakin's evil clone. How 'bout that, George Lucas? In one fell swoop we could have made Obi-wan's lie in Episode 4 the truth!

Perhaps that is the case -- we'll have to wait for the Extra Special Edition in three years or so.

Spoiler:
That is sort of the plot of Force Unleashed 2.

All a matter of perspective, as they say.

I also expected that the clones of these mysterious Clone Wars would be the bad guys. Making them protagonists led by Jedi indicates to me that George Lucas is a lot more imaginative and smart than it's currently fashionable to say.

I'm not so sure. It was all tied up in a plot that was too murky, and had the good guys acting against their own best interests for most of the trilogy. Something which can be interesting in the right context, but really doesn't work with the pulp sensibilities of Star Wars.

You should watch some of the fan edits on youtube. All they do is tighten the editing to make it look like two people talking to each other. It doesn't make it good, but it makes it good enough.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

What I find really sad is that Lucas pretty much has left his universe's expansion in the hands of tons of fanfic writers and as long as the dough rolls in for all the product he's happy.

Its almost opposite the problem GW has with their IP. Getting a license from GW is like prying $1 away from Ebenezer Scrooge. Getting one from Lucas is like a cheap hooker, toss money in his direction and he'll gladly you.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
