A goal of education, more than learning information, is to gain skills in critical thought, so that you can look through statements and judge their value.

Are academics liberal? Almost assuredly. Is that a problem? Why does that happen? Is there a way to mitigate the harm, if any?

Recognizing that "professors are all liberal" is a right wing talking point is a good step, but simply rejecting it in favor of another is basically as bad.

Some professors are liberal. I've seen plenty of English professors and others who are quite liberal. I've also seen tons of Ayn Rand fetishists in Economics, and all other sorts of right wing folks in other departments.

Just saying, "college is liberal" isn't accurate as far as I've seen. A lot of it depends on which program you're in.

I mean, I can't imagine there being too many conservative Women's Studies or Sociology professors.

Ah, my women's studies teacher I now count among my friends. She IS crazy and VERY liberal, we have coffee at least twice a month outside of class. You just caught a bad break bro.

He's too smart...well for a cat tha gets stuck in the place twice. When I saw hes on the roof I don't mean in one place. We had a cat that did that to my wife jeep. No idea whose cat it was. Had a cute pink collar. I had to spray the painball splatters off so she can drive to work.

Perhaps the only thing I've learned from my time working in higher education is that people can be very, very smart, and very, very clueless about anything that isn't in their direct field of interest.

I've had to sit down with Engineering Professors and explain to them that the left column is what they've spent, and the middle column is what they budgeted to spend, and the right column is the difference between the two. So if the left column is bigger than the middle column it is bad.

I mean, Engineering Professors. These people teach maths at an incredible level, and they can't just figure out a variance report just by looking at it.

Okay, I don't like Romney either - well, I don't really like Obama either but it's the difference between the Joker and Cthulu - but this professor is just plain nuts.
