No easy way to say this but your list is weak.

The problem you have is you only have 2 troops choices, and they aren't even in chimeras, and no the carapace armor isn't going to save them. That means pretty much your going to lose any game that requires objectives.

Any opponent that has a lick of sence will suicide anything to kill those two squads (but really won't have to) at 2k pts he's got something that can take out 20 4+ save gaurdsmen, then just hunker down and your going to lose.

And no you dont have enough killing to make that impossible.

-Unless your short on models you'd be better off changing one or both vet squads to a platoon for about the same cost, even if they are lightly upgraded
-Trim the fat on your command squad, you have way to much in that, i'd pick one or two advisors and drop the rest make your pick.
-Lose the Lascannon on the demplisher it's snap fireing with the new FAQ so waste of points
-Add chimeras to the vets, drop the carapace armor on everything your transports are your defence, and get one or two more units.

It would be a start

No, it probably means you have wasted points on the las cannons in the units.
If their transports are not shot down and you do get to drop them off they get to hit 1.5 times on average with their meltaguns prior to them being pounded into the dust.

If you rolled up with an army like this you may get the drop on me once but my standardish forces (CSM, ORK) or a reasonable balanced army could be tweaked to counter this quite affectively.

All said I do like the line up but agree with the first post that you will struggle in objective based missions.

If your vets are in the Vendettas then that does make it worse as your opponent is going to know which (you have to tell him during deployment and when ever he asks) So he'll just call them primary and even with the flyer rules enough shots will take down 2. And a flying transport dead means everyone inside dies.

Also if you do actualy drop them off you make it easier for the other guy to kill them, and the transport as you have to revert to a skimmer to do that. And wasting points on the lascannon of course.

at 2k points you need more troop units for a guard army, There is no way around it. As I stated before at least drop one vet squad and buy even a bare bones platoon, even if you put them in every vendetta (not suggested) at least they will all be a threat to objectives.

I would suggest dropping the bane wolves and picking up more infantry. Mech vets would suit your all tank list. Drop their lascannons though.

The other posters have it right. Start trimming down for more troops.

Just take 3 vendettas in separate squads. Do not put anything in them.

Your CCS is a mess. Like mentioned about just take one special guy if any at all. Even with reserves being 3+ all the time astropaths aren't always needed.

Take at LEAST 4 troop choices at 2000pts.

I'd go with 4 vets in chimeras with 3 plasma and 1 melta seeing as this is what you seem to be going for.

I agree this list is weak. It looks like it's designed to table people, but won't do too well at that.

More vets, or a platoon. Drop the carapase, this won't help squishy guard survive much unless you have a lot of them. Drop the lascannons on the vets, you won't get to use these.

The Demolisher is weak. You're paying 180pts for a 24" shot, then snap firing the 15pt lascannon. If you want ap2, take something else, like another executioner, or even just throw some sponsons on the executioner you already have.

Banewolves seem pointless, you have a ton of AP2 already. These will be focussed down by your enemies anti-transport.

This was just a list to see how it would do, clearly not well and i was trying to decide between guard, daemons and necrons so now it is just between daemons and necrons. Thanks though!!!

CCS - 4 PGs is a death star, if you want an extra pie plate give them a MoO.
Marbo - 65 pts (warlord killer, and he does his job well!)
2x 10 man PBC 110 pts
3x PG vets 115 pts
2x Flamer vets 100 pts
Bolt pistols for Sgts in each squad
2 vendettas
2 punishers (makes up the lack of anti-infantry), bolter sponsons and heavy stubber - 230 pts. <---Insert Pask here for 50 pts
Alternatively for even more pop everything and feel like a boss trade in the punishers for executions with plasma sponsons. 5 small blasts S7 AP2? Please sir may I have another!

Without Pask that is 1850, add pask you have 100 points to play with. Add a valkeryie, maybe a sential squad (drop a flamer though). 9 S6 shots do a lot of damage so don't knock them just yet as they can put pressure on rear guard at later turns if used correctly.

Don't discount gaurd just because of this, they are an amazing army.......just not the list you had posted.

I agree with aleis. Don't give up because your 1st try wasn't up to scratch. The forum is here to help! At least now you recognise what will make a poor guard list and you can come up with another.
