I recently acquired this Thunderhawk. It is styled in a similar fashion to the 1990's Thunderhawk I remember when I first got into the game. The two key differences are that it is resin, not metal and the engines flare out instead of coneshaped. It is considerably smaller than the the Forgeworld model and very different stylistically. I have a theory that it may have been an unreleased Armourcast kit, as it looks similar to their style of parts casting. If anyone can identify where this model came from, I would greatly appreciate it. I am waiting on the model to arrive. When it does, I will post better pics. Thank you.

Yes. Except that box is for the metal kit. This one is resin. As far as I know GW never made a resin version of this Thunderhawk. Otherwise, it is exactly that model.

Judging how the model doesn't seem very complex, It is feasible that someone just made a resin cast from the metal version and maybe hand to make some subtle changes that they may not have had the skill to replicate.

Would be interested in seeing the differences when you get you copy in.

Edit: from reading the thread where the above poster got the picture, it would lean more towards my theory since apparently the metal thnderhawks where made in limited quantity.

I have been thinking about the possibility of a resin recast and it is very common occurrence today. Here is the information I have. I acquired it from a reputable gentlemen who, I have shopped with before. He informed me that he got it at an estate sale about five or six years ago and has not been able to figure it out either. That could be a line of crap, but until I get my hands on the model, I won't know for sure.

Only $649.99! Wow thats a steal!

A model of that size, and that many parts would be a pain in the ass to duplicate. But there are very determined people out there. Especially if it says on the box that only 250 of them were made.

Also, didn't armorcast only make scaled up Epic models? If so then there wouldn't be as much detail on it.

That's what I was thinking.

I can't believe games workshop was charging money like that back in the day! 649$ is a tremendous amount of money. I have a nice coat that costs that much, but I wear it on my person all the time.

Well, that model was all pewter and weighed about 15 lbs. It also came in a really nice lined pine box that could be used for other stuff once the model was built. Although the original ad stated that only 250 would be made, I know that they made more. I had #40,275.

Yeah, looks like a resin copy of the metal one to me.

649.00 is like a year's salary to some chinese dude. Considering how cheap you could make a resin cast for I have no doubt there are people with the financial motivation to do so.

All,
Thank you for the info. I appreciate the assist. I'll let you know what kind of shape it's in, when it eventually gets to me.
