What is your favourite Horus Heresy novel/
1- A Thousand sons- Coz not everyone can summon firebolts and kill titans. Magnus was an awesome charachter, although sad in the end-the legion should have been loyal..
2- Fulgrim-great storyline, and Fulgrim was very cool, although I was really disturbed about the Ostian Delafour/Serena D'Angelus story
3. Know no fear- Ultramarines and Guilliam, finally gained my respect-awesome guys...

Thousand Sons took the prize for me, but Legion was great too. And of course the first three books. Im up to Age of Darkness but I skipped the DA books and Prospero Burns.

I'd unskip Prospero Burns! A really good book and an interesting counterpart to Thousand Sons.

Meh I dont like Space Wolves but I may give it a go simply for the fact Dan Abnett wrote it.

It's not a Horus Heresy book but if you hate Space Wolves read "The Emperors Gift" by ADB. I absolutely loathed Space Wolves ever since reading the short story they appeared in back in Tales Of Heresy, but that book really turned around my opinion on them, at least in the 40k setting.

^Yes, it managed to make the Wolves likeable but not Mary Stu's.
As for me, First Heretic. But I'm a Word Bearers fanatic so that's a given....

I skipped First Heretic because I couldnt find it but as soon as I see it Ill pick it up. Nemesis was the last one I read; I went in with low expectations but REALLY enjoyed it. Only forays out of HH have been Eisenhorn (epic), Ciaphus Cain (good but the novelty wears off), and Grey Knight omnibus (no idea why I bought it, ugh).

The First Heretic.
Even if ADB is an infinitely better writer than I am, a lot of the time I have a hard time getting into his books because I dislike the characters. When I read Soul Hunter, Talos and the Exalted reminded me of Bart and Principle Skinner. I don't think that was his intention. But ADB's writing style is fething perfect. It flows really well; you start reading and then you realize that all of a sudden you've read 50 pages or something. Only really good authors can do that.
Then I read The First Heretic and the problem I normally have with his books, poor characterization, wasn't there. Lorgar, Argel Tal and all those dudes seem mature, indepth and believable. I mean gak, that book was fething perfect. It was a piece of licensed merchandise for a Sci Fi setting, but it was on par with real, legit literature.
So that's why The First Heretic is my favorite HH book.
