Found this in another thread on 40k online and found it too good to not repost...

Basically, the frontmen for two bands that are hugely popular with girls also happen to play Warhammer. How cool is that

Anyone know of any other celebrities that play Warhammer?

What? You don't find it ironic that two people lots of teenage girls are frothing at the mouth over also play our beloved game? Huh, guess it's just me then. Oh and by the way, I quite like my plain hot dogs.

I have no idea what was going on in that link you posted DarkCorsair. You may need to give out decoder rings to those who aren't into whatever the hell that is as much as you are.

Oh, and Robin Williams I believe is a well known 40k player.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

You say that and yet I have seen no pictures of him actually playing, or batreps of any kind from his twitter feed (does he have a twitter feed?)

It's actually kind of impressive. Gorillas are such intelligent animals. It's always amazing to hear the news when we discover something new about what they're capable of.

The guy who typed the message in the post is Gerard Way, the frontman for My Chemical Romance. He's talking about how he got Ray Toro (the guitarist for MCR) and Patrick Stump (the frontman for Fall Out Boy) to start up 40k armies with him.

I play it.

You've probably never heard of me, but being a famous celebrity is so mainstream, I prefer to be an unfamous celebrity.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Also that post is from 3 years ago. However popular that man-i've-never-heard of was at the time, the teenage girls are almost certainly frothing over something new at this point.

I know Peter Cushing(Moff Tarkan from Star Wars) was an avid historical miniatures guy. Not sure if he ever played warhammer though.

I believe Peter Jackson plays Warhammer too.

Long story short, those two people were and still are pretty famous, one having multiple radio hits in the past year. You've never heard of them? Great! You receive a pat on the back Now get back to the thread and stop being negative dang it!

Chris Kluwe (punter for the Minnesota Vikings) plays Tyranids. He used to play at the FLGS that I played at and I've played him once. He was a pretty cool dude and a great painter.

He is also, if memory serves, hilariously fearless in saying what he thinks about any given situation.

That he plays 40K is just another reason to like him.

Fixed. He only had a bit part in star Wars, better to remember him for his roles across from Christopher Lee.

Also historical wargaming isnt the same. Edward Woodward was also a historical wargamer.

Every time I've heard it mentioned, it was in the context of being an Eldar player. There are pictures of him in gaming stores, but no pictures i could find of him actually playing games.

We need to get Vin Diesel into 40k, the guy already plays DnD to the point of reportedly dragging Dame Judith Dench into a round or three while they were shooting a movie together.

I feel like I want to reignite this post out of respect for Robin Williams.

Heart aching to know that such a man took his own life but my god, he goes beyond being a brilliant human being. The fact that he was a fantasy/ 40k enthusiast just makes it easier for me to relate to him.

Much love to this man and all others out there.

Yeah, so we're pretty much bound for the lock due to necroing.

Basically, you posted nothing of real value to the thread that was new... hence "thread necromancy" or necroing the thread.

Unless you know of someone else that is famous that plays 40k and the like then that should be posted here.

For the record, I heard on a radio interview with a band that one of the members is very into "Warcraft" (Really hard to gauge context there... The guy was talking about one of the Cannibal Corpse members, so Im not sure if it's WoW, W3, or something else entirely)

Necroing, or Thread Necromancy, is when an old thread is "brought back to life" with new posts. It is typically frowned upon on Dakka, but in some instances when a new development occurs some thread necro slides.

I agree with your sentiment, Wilson. We lost "one of us" with Williams' passing. I think playing a 40k game with him would have been fun beyond belief.

Or you could have posted in the Robin Williams thread instead of resurrecting this one. If you just want to talk about another specific celebrity you could start a new thread. Bumping an almost two year long dead thread is not a good.
