I personally though it was a good read but don't expect a book that's focuses on the legion of the damned because it dosent the book sort of spends 3% of the time focusing on the legion and the rest of the time it focuses on everything else unrelated to the legion. although it dose drop an interesting fact about the legion at the end but i wont say any more than that .

What he said.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but at the end of the day it fails to live up to its name.

The Legion of the Damned shows up in the last like 5pages of the book and thats it.

Good book, needs a different name though

I read it, and tbh didn't think it was great. 2 out of 5, maybe?

I didn't like the fact that it was named 'Legion of the Damned' yet the first 1/3 of the book they were fighting between them selves over a sword (which had very little influence on the rest of the story line). And also the LotD didn't turn up untill the final chapter.

I think, had the final chapter been the first chapter and they spent the length of the book looking for / fighting with the LotD, it would be better and would deserve the name 'Legion of the Damned'.

(YMMV)

I kinda like what it did to flesh out the "feast of blades" myself.

I enjoyed it very much.

The attack on the Shrine World was excellent and I really liked the way that there were various traitor legions and forces actually named.

The Feast of Blades and in Chapter relationships were handled very well.

I was not disappointed with the lack of Legion of the Damned as the book would have been rather boring being told from the perspective of beings who cannot talk. The air of mystery that the book created for them was much better in my opinion.

Well worth a read.

This could just be me but I really started to hate this authors idiosyncracies and I've noticed it about quite a few of them (authors I mean)

I'll explain...The auther of Legion of the Damned (Honestly at this point I'm too lazy to look it up right now lol) uses the term "angel" in almost every description of the Space Marines..whether it's in a third person point of view or that Chaos Lord using it...I could maybe see an average imperial citizen using the term angel as very few people in the imperium would see and they would take on an almost mythical aspect..however when you're a chaos warlord going around sometimes specifically looking for space marines to kill using the term angel to describe your enemy, unless used in a tone of derision (which was not described as such) would just look silly...at least to me it would

on the same line of thought the author of the Word Bearer's books...Dark Apostle, Dark Creed etc uses the word Hiss extensively whether it be someone hissing in pain..a ramps hydraulics hissing as it's opening or a Chaos warrior hissing in amusement....it makes my eye hiss in frustration

anyone else notice this?

other than that..it was an alright book...Word Bearer omnibus being a better series

Looking forward to the opening of 40k: The Musical

I thought it was pretty good, and I liked the way the Legion of the Dammed were portrayed in the writing, but it left me wanting much more exposure to them in the book, they were barely mentioned until the very end
