Looking to get in the game and want 2 armies and was thinking Isengard as my 2nd army. Looking for cheaper, I would like a unit of wargs and like the raider look a bit better.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Hey mate,

at 500 points I have found that sharku is awesome with a unit of warg riders as the opponent doesn't usually have enough shooting power to bring him down before they get to munching.

That being said, you looking for armoured uruks? orcs? trolls? scouts? give me a general outline of what you like and ill see if I can help

Go along with what Dave said about Sharku, my mate runs him and a FULL warband or Warg Riders. I never have enough fire power to down enough of them!

Thanks for the help, warg unit is a must so Sharku and a unit of wargs be great to have one about the size that comes with 1 box, I think it is. Lurtz would be great I assume he goes with some scouts. I hear crossbows are good, maybe them with a Shaman or something does that sound about right?

I don't know why but apparently Lurtz is not worth it and one of the other named uruks is better for taking with scouts, possibly vrasku? Sorry not an uruk player but it's what goes around...

Lurtz has never done well for me. He's got the gear for CC and an Orc Bow. Orc Bows aren't very good , IMO.

Mahur is great for scouts as he gives them more movement.

Vrasku has a fancy crossbow.

Ugluk is fun, as he lets you chop a head off and most of your army will auto-pass courage. Plus, he's a CC beast.

Saruman has always served me well. He's expensive, but he usually earns his points back for me. Perhaps give him a horse and let him run with the Wargs?

With Uruks, you want most of your guys to be in the fight ASAP. That's where they're best.

Ranged power is best in the form of crossbows (or Warg Riders with bows/throwing spears)

Thanks for the tips ok so maybe...

Sharku with a unit of wargs
Ugluk with a unit of warriors mix of sword/shield and pikes
and either
Mahur with a unit of scouts
or
Vrasku with a unit of crossbows?

I'm just looking into the game have not taken any steps so I don't have any point costs. This army was just planning on being an army to help introduce the game to friends but I'm liking them. I chose Isengard cause I wanted a harad army based on this as my main army: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=cat750022a&pIndex=1&aId=20400011a&multiPageMode=true&start=2

Sounds decent. Uglúk is pretty good, but warriors are awfully expensive things to go around beheading. You might consider a vanilla captain there.

Mauhúr's scouts would be useful for their manuverability, but of the two I'd say Vrasku and a batch of crossbows is probably a better investment. You want something to strip models from enemy heavy cav before they hit your lines, because although a pike formation is a tough prospect to charge, cav with a high fight value can plough right through you with good rolls.

Load your warg riders up with as many throwing spears as you can, by the way. They're most useful that way.

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.
