Do you think the vehicle design rules can still be used today? They are really old but allow a ton more creativity into the game by being able to change your stats and points. I obliviously wouldn't use it in a touney but just a normal pick up game. Just to clarify; I'm not talking about apocalypse sized vehicles.
Would comparing VDR vehicles and normal vehicles work when giving a VDR vehicle hullpoints?
Please post what you think. I would love if i was on the same boat with a lot of people about VDR.
Thanks,
Helvost

No. It's just too old and inconsistent in points. Sensible vehicles are too expensive (for example, trying to duplicate any current vehicle results in something really overcosted), but then you also have absolutely broken stuff if you want to exploit the rules. At most you can use the VDR calculator to get a rough idea of the points for a vehicle you want to create, but the best thing to do is just ban VDR stuff by default and make a special house rule for a specific vehicle if everyone agrees to allow it.

The VDR overcosts everything. I see no reason you can not use it in a friendly game.
Just give AV 14 things 4 Hull points, and AV 13-11 things 3 Hull points, and AV 10 2 or 3 Hull points, and you will be good.

Clearly you haven't tried to see how much you can exploit the rules.

That's kind of like complaining about people exploiting Apocalypse rules.
Allow them if you want them... and just disallow any vehicle builds that you think are too over the top. Use the VDR as they were intended to be used, and you'll rarely have any serious issues with them.

I have made VDR vehicles, They are not more powerful than their points dictate, and they get destroyed like any other vehicle.

I say use them, why not. Just like Creature Feature, use them as well. Yes they will be over costed, but at least you get to use your own creation for fun.
