Subject: How to beat a Necron list like this? (Not flyerspam)

Ok, so imagine a Necron army with one overlord, doesn't really matter much what you give him, most likely the usual annoying stuff. Then imagine that that Necron player decided to take nothing but Necron Warriors with Ghost Arks. Say 20 man warrior squads, each with a Necron lord, each with a Ghost Ark transport. How would you go about beating it? Obviously you could TRY to stay out of 24'', but they're going to be coming after you, and even footslogging they will reach you with their guns eventually. With the Gauss rule, they don't need any real anti-mech....that is their anti-mech. Anyone who has played against crons knows how bad it would be if a 20 man warrior squad rapid fire'd any vehicle. So they have their anti-mech covered, and plenty of anti-infantry shots, what with the 120 warriors they are fielding. You basically HAVE to blow up the Ghost Arks before you can get anywhere fighting this list, or else they will just "Repair Barge" any of the Necrons that you kill that didn't manage to reanimate. The Ghost Arks will be hiding behind the wall of crons, so you have no way to deepstrike next to them with melta, or assault them. Therefore they will always be AV13 with a cover save. You could TRY assaulting one of the warrior squads, but you'd have to get through A LOT of gauss fire before you reach them, and then you'd still get overwatched, and then have to deal with a Necron lord. The only thing I see giving this list trouble would be a flyerspam list, and even then I'm not so sure...
What do you guys think?

Space marine vindicator shots... 3 large blase will kill them. Or GK orbital bombardment. Extreme lists need extreme tactics lol

The bad thing about this cron list is that it's really a TAC list...I mean, it would work against almost anything.

Silver Tide is a powerful and durable army, but there are a few ways of dealing with it. Warriors are extremely vulnerable to AP4, Large Blast Templates, and ranged weapons, so take as many pie plates as you can. For example, Space Marine Vindicators WRECK warrior spam by reliably taking massive chunks out of them at a time (Vindicators will wound on a 2+, ignore cover, and cause ID on the overlord). The other possibility is taking models with a high Toughness characteristic, like monstrous creatures. I remember having a debate a while back where we came to the conclusion that a dreadknight was the unit that necron lists in general have the most difficulty dealing with, because of it's combination of high-toughness, a 2+ save, and the ability to ignore armour at an initiative higher than 2. The third thing is to just deal with them how you would deal with any other mech army. A squad of 20 Warriors with a Ghost Ark and no lord is 375 points, and lords can expensive for a one wound model rather quickly (a lord with a scythe, orb, weave, and mss is over 100 points), so you should be able to bring a lot to bear on the unit. 120 warriors, squad with an ark, is over 2000 points in of itself, so remember that there is a lot that can be brought for that much. Even 2000 points of warriors and arks will have a tough time dealing with 2000 points of TEQ, or even MEQ if they have a semi-decent toughness.

Not that scary of a list. A decent list, but could be beaten. Focus fire on one squad at a time, wipe them out and there is no resurrection protocols or chance for the ghost ark to bring 'em back. Dedicated assault units generally have some method that'll make closing the 24" bubble of death possible, be it a transport or fast movement or what-have-you.
That 24" bubble of death would be the biggest weakness of this list. They will have to chase the enemy while only moving a maximum of 6" a turn. There's a lot of armies and lists out there that can dance around that and make the necrons hurt while they're at it.
The biggest thing though is that this list would not be fun to play against. Not because it's cheesy or broken, but because it would take fething forever just for the 'cron player to do his movement phase. Same reason that green tide can be obnoxious, or foot guard. It can drag the game out and make it boring.

Broadsides/Hammerhead take out ghost arks turn 1, pulse rifles/missile pods/railgun submunitions handle the warriors at range. With the threat of railgun fire the arks can't go forward safely thus the army has to go forward without their support. In all likely hood the crons won't get wiped out but sufficient damage can be done to severely hinder their effectiveness. Also IG can just leafblow the whole shabang. PS: Vindicators don't ignore cover.

Ok as a Necron Player i never field the tide of warriors it may seem viable but it really isnt.... once somebody has a either a few large blast with at least AP4 which isnt hard to get or a rather large group of something close combat oriented your army is gone and as for the arks once a penitrating hit is dealt not hard to do it again with the average vehichle popping weapons. and quick question how many warriors are in those arks you mentioned 20 warriors a squad and only 10 can fit in the ark so kinda had me wondering is all. An easy fix to the Reanimation is wiping the squad withi templates or CC, CC is easyer to do it with but if your like a friend of mine 3 Baal preds with all flamers just wreak shop against my warriors and i dont bring a hoard of them... vindicators, and plasma cannons really work well at killing huge groups of warriors basically anything with a template and AP4 or better is going to do you well. As for Flyers dont do it lol that many rapid fire shots will get thru and turn that flyer into slag pretty quick even just 10 warriors fireing at a storm talon or something usually get 3-5 hits when rapid fire is used for me anyways not on average and of those i usually get 1 6 for the gauss rule. now take a bunch of 20 man squads.... indeed lol anyways i hope this helps!!!!!

Melee squads with melta weapons => immedate win. This kind of army does not have any kind of AP weapon (AP 5 is nothing.). It's a rather weak list imo. @Tommy: GODDAMN use some punctuation please! It's nigh impossible to read your posts.

Their short range exposes them to being glanced to death in return (and as it's been said before, they don't ignore cover).
I think a Dark Eldar Venom spam will pretty much always win against this kind of Necron list.

Just the 120 warriors plus the Ghost Arks is 2190, so that's not going to fit in regular size games. It's a rock/paper/scissors list, like many spam lists. Against armies with small units and shooty vehicles, it'll march up the field and be tough to stop. Against armies with good AP, high-volume shooting, or any kind of durable assault threat, it's in trouble. You can easily lose chunks of 20 warriors at a time to a decent assault unit.

Well, an army with Warriors in Ghost Arks and nothing else would be too mono-dimensional and not work as an TAC list.
What you generally need in an army is to battle threats at all ranges, from 48'' (or 36'') to 12'' and closer.

It seems to work on the Grey Knight player I go against all the time. He likes to use nothing but terminators and dreadknights, usually with a land raider or stormraven. All I use is warriors, ghost arks, and two stalkers, with royal court addons. His army is small enough that with two stalkers, I can almost guarantee one dead unit a turn. And Land Raiders are a joke against gauss weapon.
