OK, I'd like a ruling on this as I'm preparing to take an Ork army into the fray and would like to head off any objections.

So, Ghaz makes Mega Nobz, or Nobz troops choices (one or the other to be clear). So as I read it, either unit can claim objectives as troops with no restrictions under 6th. Am I correct?

Secondly. For example, I have Ghaz attached to a unit of Mega Nobz. They (the Mega Nobz) are selected as troops. They get onto an objective, and Everybody dies except one Mega Nob. Is he still scoring as Ghaz has passed to the great Waaagh?

I would say that they are still scoring, but again, would like verification.

Couldn't find anything on this on a search. My apologies if this is an old subject.

Thanks in advance.

They category doesn't change if Ghaz dies. And yes, anything that counts as Troops is scoring unless some other rule specifically says otherwise (as in the case of vehicles), because they are counting as Troops.

So under "big guns never tire" makes heavy support scoring. Does that make vehicles scoring as well? i played a game where they claimed since heavy support counts as scoring their vehicles counted for scoring. I thought infantry were the only one able to capture objectives. I know vehicles can contest objectives.

The Big Guns never tire mission explicitly says HS are scoring, even if they are vehicles.

Not all Troops are Scoring.

i only discovered in a game the other day that Death Company are counted as Troops but are not Scorign so they can't capture an objective.

Annoyed my opponent no-end as they were the only unit he had close by and we were playing The Relic. he just had to sit there looking at the objective.

That's only because DC have a specific exception in their entry that stops them from being scoring.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Not fenrisian wolves. They never count. See page 91 of the codex.

Remember too, that in the Big Gunz Never Tire mission that Heavies do score, but if it is a vehicle heavy it does not contest.

For example, if I have a Ravager on an objective and you decide to move up your Long Fangs to the objective, you would actually capture the objective and I would get nothing out of it as vehicles can never deny objectives.

7th Edition Tournament Record:

15-2

War in the Mountain GT: Best Overall, 6-0 Dark Eldar

Bugeater GT: 4th, Tournament Runner Up, 5-1 Dark Eldar

Wargamescon: 7th, Best Dark Eldar. 4-1

So, how is it that the Heavy Metal rule, making a vehicle a scoring unit, doesn't trump the "vehicles can't contest" rule? Scoring units do contest. Or are you going to say that Bjorn the Fell-Handed couldn't contest if he got the Immovable Object Warlord trait?

Because Scoring unit =/= denial unit. They are quite explicitly different. And yes, Bjorn would not be a denial unit if he got Immovable Object.

So, does a deff dread (made a troops choice by a Big Mek) count as scoring?

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

No, it's a vehicle with no special allowance. Vehicles during Big Guns Never Tire have a special allowance and are therefore scoring.

That is correct. Just like Deathcompany Dreadnoughts arn't scoring. Not because they're Deathcompany, but because they're a vehicle.

I did have a somewhat tangential question that came up recently which I didn't know how to resolve.

Due to wanting moar gunz, I bought a razorback for a devastator squad. I then, of course, got Big Guns never tire and now became confused over whether the razor was scoring or not...

As it is part of a devastator squad, then yes.
