Hello. I have two questions to the community

1. Are cyberwolves regarded as characters when leading a fenrisian pack (do they get LOS and are able to challange other characters?)

2. Assuming you would use fenrisian wolves (I know not a lot of you do), would you by a cyberwolf for the pack or not? is there a certain number of wolves where you would introduce a cyberwolf?

1. BRB doesn't say that it is. As far as I recall its not addressed in the FAQ either. Mostly sure this is a no.

2. Even if it was a character, I wouldn't. Maybe if i had the points spare, be fun modeling it with my 'wolves' .

hmm it doesnt say so specifically but

BRB page 43
paragraph "Character type"
suggests that they are since they have their own characteristics.

So if the cyberwolf is in fact a character, he might be usefull

he would be able to lead the unit spearing the assault with his 4+ save and LOS of 4+ which would considerably increase the survivability of them.

mostly people only kill my with bolter fire since thats all that takes, but if i get saves then they will have to shoot with harder stuff (= less hard stuff on my real stuff)

It also suggests you look at appendix II. Try page 411, no character mention next to the profile just that its a beast. And a quick run though the FAQ there seems to be no mention of them as characters. Seeing as the Wolfguard were clarified in the FAQ and the cyberwolves are not altered I'd say they are not characters, Still, hefty marine like stats, and then some, with saga of the wolfkin and a scout armour style save to boot. Not bad for the cost.

I've used wolves many times and if you hug the terrain and position them correctly can cause real trouble for your opponent.

See wolves give your enemy two choices either A) pour an inordinate amount of fire power into a small cheap unit.
B) ignore them in favour of another unit and have to deal with a very effective melee unit.

Against low armour units they are a terror able to inflict the same kind of damage a grey hunter squad and wont leave much to counter attack, against MeQ though they will at best hold up a unit 2 turns and kill half a unit which for less than 100 points still isnt bad.

I love my Fenrisian Wolves! At 2k I run two packs of ten because why not, but I have never felt the need for a Cyberwolf. Saga of the Wolfkin ups their leadership anyway and thats all I really see him being good for. Maybe if it had two wounds (with an appropriate point hike of course) I would consider it. Or if I could upgrade all of them to be cyberwolves that would be alot of fun too.

If all of them could be cyber wolves then yeah, that would be awesome. Just one, even with another wound, doesn't seem worth it IMO.

even without point sink that would be a 1 point extra expensive marine in a 4+ armour without shooting ability, when you have grey hunters. I think I wouldnt use those wolves.
The beauty with wolves is their cheapness

4+ save but 5 toughness and 3 attacks. If you have saga of the wolf kin then they would be a wolf scout with 5 toughness, 5 init and 3 attacks. All granted without a shooting attack but they ARE beasts (unit that's not slowed by difficult terrain even when charging, moves 12", fleets and has move though cover) so shooting is beside the point. It would own, especially as a fast attack unit.

Exactly toughness 5 move 12" for 16 points plus it would just be cool. Would it be a great option? No probably not but would I take it every game regardless of the points value because it is fluffy fun? Hell yeah!
