The stats are added every 4 evs.

HOWEVER! and this is important, you can only have a maximum of 510 EVs. So when you look to EV train Totodile, You'll want to draw out what EVs you want where (If it's the Ddance Feraligatr you're looking at, the standard 252Atk/252Spe Jolly Nature will fit the bill) So from there you'd want to go either route 1 and fight 252 Lilipups(152 with 10 Protein) followed by going to the water right next to route one and fight 126 Basculins(or 76 with Carbos) or Fight 252 Goletts in the second floor of Dragonspiral and then going after the Basculins.

Note: this is only for B1W1. I'm not sure on EV training spots in B2W2 yet.

It's only 1 point per 4 EV, so you need to be paying close attention to notice.

I've found it's easier to notice the EVs on pokemon that are well over the level of the critter you are fighting. When I was Ev training my level 75 Kyurem on level 30 Palpitoads, I noticed the HP going up a lot more than I noticed it when I was training my Snover on the same Palpitoads.

From the egg, unless you are going to work on EVs on another stat.

can you do it from level 12 onward?

Probably not. what did you do to get to level 12?

Pokemon start picking up EVs as soon as they get EXP, so unless you sat him in the Day care, fought pokemon that give off the EVs you want, or fed him rare candy, you may have to get a fresh tepig.

I just started black and white two. I don't think I can get a new one anytime soon :( they are not going up except for leveling.

Why bother with EVs on your first run? Enjoy the game for what it is!

First run through it's not worth bothering, generally it happens after the E4 are done when you have the resources for it.

EVs only matter for playing against real people. And even then, if you're going to invest the time in EV training, you might as well make sure what you'll be putting the time into has good IVs and the right nature too (which is an exercise in frustration itself).

I hear they made this all a bit easier in 5th gen, but trust me, it's not something to be taken lightly.

Depends, how much do you hate yourself? If the answer is "a lot," then go for it. Otherwise, don't.

Besides, if you want to battle against other people, you could always use Pokemon Lab instead.

alright, good point. I'll just make it my point to travel across the land instead.

The truth he speaks. It was made easier with some new items that can build and remove EV's, but its still pain.

Pokemon is the ONLY game where I'd consider myself a power gamer and honestly, with the handheld versions is so pointless. Most teams you'll face are horribly unbalanced type wise, have weak move sets, and feature pokemon in roles they aren't suited for (using Vaporeon as a sweeper lulz). I do it because it drives me crazy if I don't, but it takes so much time just to EV train a pokemon, ignoring the time it takes to find one with the right nature let along decent IV's.

Take legendaries. They do not come with perfect IV's! Not necessarily a good nature either. Wanna replay the game 50 times just to get 1 Terrakion you can use in competitive play?

Take my advice, don't do it. XD I spent 5 hours capturing Eevee's yesterday and I only found 1 worth keeping!

I put over 200 hours into just breeding and EV training in Pearl. Tok it online for a few matches, stomped everyone instantly, realized I wasted 200 hours.

If you want real fights, you'l have to play something like Pokemon Lab, where the good players actually congregate.

Just hop onto Smogon. Not the best community, hell XBox Live is better at times but that's the place to go if you really want to take Nintendo's little battling sprites seriously.

Except physical sweepers, they take about 30 mins to get all the EVs and should have them by level 20-23 if you're doing it properly. This doesn't take into account the time taken to hatch a decent one and does use the drugs and enhancement items.

Especially in Black and White. Those two games are loaded with attack and speed boosting EV's in high doses

Honestly, one of the reasons I lost interest in pokemon is just that the game was becoming so ridiculously offensive. Although I felt that D/P/Pl had the best mechanics (seriously, the special/physical split was a godsend), I felt that R/S/E had probably the best balance of offense and defense.

Walls are still in and somewhat decent usually. They keep changing the contest side around, would have been nice if it were in it as an alternate way of progressing. Could do either or both.
