So im looking to move away from the citadel paints. Mostly due to the pots just making things harder for me with them with not sealing completely and paint dripping out. or the inconsitency of how thick/thin some of the colors i have gotten of late have been.
But i have been looking into getting vallejo. I like the game color suit case that comes with 72 colors and the 3 sable brushes. Just looking for some insight on if its worth it or not. Or is there is some other lines out there that have something similar for decent prices? Thanks for any and all insight and help.

I can tell you that I own a TON of citadel stuff, and I have your same concerns, I have recently started picking up Gamecolor and Model color paints just to fill out my variance of colors, the dropper bottles are excellent.
a lot of people will probably tell you never to devote yourself to just one company as far as paints go, because they all offer something you may be looking for, Variety is the spice of life. if GW doesn't offer a color you want, look to Vallejo, and vice versa.

I bought that vallejo case. Honestly you'd be better off buying the colors you need. Paint "sets" aren't generally worth it.
I have several colors that I can't see myself ever using.

Hi there! I was in exactly the same place as you were several months back. I looked at the Vallejo Game Colour case - just like you - and, having got it, i haven't looked back since. The paints are fantastic, albeit they will need a little shake before each use - i shook citadel paints before using them so it wasn't any difference for me. Every thing i needed was in the case. Broad range of paint colours / shades. I cant comment on Game Colour's inks / washes - I use the GW washes, mainly because i have them. Same with the extra opaque colours. One thing i did note, they didn't have a thinner. It was no hassle to order it seperately. The brushes are great too. detail, fine detail and dry brush - should cover most, if not all, of your painting needs. I was lucky enough to realise i wanted to just before my birthday, so my mum got it for me. But i would reccomend buying from an online retailer, the discount price is around £135. to summarise: imo, a nice place to advance to after using GW colours **edit** dam, ninja'd twice

While I still use GW paints (as a nesscessary evil to complete my army) I find myself using P3 paints more and more. The pigments are stronger and cover easier, as well as applying smoother imo. They also use pots, and are taller and thinner making it harder to get my brush in to scoop paint for my pallet..
Try out Ryn Flesh. I used it once, and it is seriously the best lighter skin tones I've used.

I have a few of the older paints left (and 1.5 pots of Devlin Mud).
I have a bunch of the Vallejo Model and Game Color's as well as a few P3 pots (put into dropper bottles) and some Reaper stuff.
Paint ranges are funny things, some companies do well with some colors and poorly with others. For example I love the P3 Jack Bone and hate the GW Bleached Bone, they are very similar in color the P3 has amazing coverage.
Experiment and you'll find what you love from a wide range of choices.

Vallejo has been a fantastic paint line. At this point, the only paints I use from GW are the Foundation Paints and Glazes. Vallejo is also a lot easier for use with an airbrush b/c of the dropper style bottle.

I think this is the main concern regarding the value of the set in question. Even if you're paying a discounted rate on every bottle included, the money saved may not necessarily be greater than even the discounted price of the bottles containing paints you'll never use. 72 colors is a lot, especially if you mix paints. If you think you'll use the majority with moderate regularity, go for it. For most, buying piecemeal is a better method, since it's not uncommon to go through two or three bottles of one color before you've even made a dent in another. My whole collection of GW/VGC combined is less than 1/3 of that size and, while there are several color families in which my available palette is lacking, even I still have a pot or two that never gets touched.

Exactly. The case is a good value, if you'll use it. I paid just shy of 200 for it I've regularly used maybe 10 colors rarely used another 5. Still had to buy some gw paint to fill in gaps. Had I bought individually I may have spent 80 and that's paying full msrp. A 120 extra dollars would have bought a few 100 points of models.

I use a mixture of paints but the main bulk is Valllejo GC and I'm now starting to build a large range of Army Painter due to the very very nice Colour Primers they have.
Angel Green and Skeleton Bone come in very handy for my DA army I'm working on.
100% match for the primer and the paint pot is great.
Mix n match ranges rather than sticking to one.
Vallejo metallics are the dogs bollocks I love them. Great coverage.
Army Painter colour primers + 100% match paint I love them. Great coverage, very fast drying time.
In my set pf Vallejo GC paints the Bone colour is the worst, very very watery so much so even using straight off pallet it's too thin, might be a bad pot out of the many I have but I now use the Skeleton Bone from Army Painter, great consistency and easy to work with.

Vallejo all the way - you won't find a range with more color choices, additives and primers - all in convenient dropper bottles. I use them almost exclusively (Game Color mostly, which I will switch to Model Color when my stocks run dry)
Cheers!

Another vote for Vallejo here as well.
i use the game colour range most fo the time but have recently bought some of the model colour "black" as it has a really nice matte finish.
The only GW product i have bought recently has been the washes.

It's a pretty consistent answer that Vallejo are great! and they are, I use some game colour and air colour and i find them excellent for whatever my needs are, I also use some of the new Army Painter warpaints range, they are also very good and great value for your basic colour choices.

I use both Citadel, Reaper and Vallejo Model/Game/Air.
I haven't tried P3, but that is only because I have found all my needs met with the above-mentioned ranges.

One thing to note the Vallejo Air Colour is a great range and not just for airbrushing, you can use it straight of the pallet on to the models!!
