Yesterday during a 500 pt game I was playing against Skaven with my Dark Elves. He had a doom wheel which was over points but later on he found out he was doing his points wrong because we're doing a mighty heroes Campaign. (150 pt)

He set his doom wheel up in front of my block with the sorceress and I promptly cast Pits of Shades on it. (Template in which you make an initiative save or die.) The argument then erupted over what the doom wheel is. My argument is that its a War machine.(warmachines can't make characteristic saves) He argued its an undefined unique/chariot because of the majority of the other rules involving the doom wheel relate back to chariot rules. I later let it roll as a chariot and then plowed my unit with ease.

So I'm asking what is the doom wheel? War machine or chariot? If anyone can point me to an official reference about what it is that would be great.

Neither. According to the BRB, it's a Unique unit. Page 486.

We got to that point in the argument. Classifying it as a unique is a horse gak way of handling it but, I accept. It was ruled as a chariot for the purposes of the campaign.

Ruling it as anything other than unique is wrong. Unique is as much of a unit type as infantry. In the Skaven book it tells you how to treat it in certain situations. If it isn't listed there treat it just like any other model.

Nope there isn't anything in the latest FAQ. The closest thing is that it treats terrain as if it were a chariot.
