Well I just finished reading "Dead men walking" and all 3 of the seige of varks books, gawd I love that 3 book series.
I'm just kind of curious as I've read just about all the GW books and so far I don't see the korps doing much lately, where are they all serving now a days? I mean Varks is now over. Cadians are doing their thing on Cadia, Steel legion is doing their thing on Armageddon, Catchacan are doing the jungle tours pretty much everywhere, Tallaran seem to be doing deserts and getting lost in time warps, valhallens seem to be hanging out with Cain and Jurgen and of course Gaunt's Ghosts are still in the sabbat crusades, but where are the rest of the krieg korps fighting now a days?
I know they are seige vets but other than varks I don't see much seige happening in the rest of the 40k universe. With the end of the Dead men walking, I'm really curious where to invision these guys now.

They'll be spread out all around the imperium.
Guard regiments go where they are assigned, I've not read the Vraks books or Dead Men Walking but I going to assume that's not every single member of the entire Death Korp.
for example in the first Guant's Ghosts book one of the regiments landing is list as a Cadian regiment. Likewise Catchans don't ahve to fight in jungles, Tallarn don't have to fight in deserts, and not all the Valhallans are hanging around with Cain.
IIRC there were some on Armageddon the 2nd or 3rd time around.

Thats the thing that is great about the major IG armies. The Death Korps of Krieg problably has regiments fighting in a few hundred major conflicts around the galaxy. If you want to write your own narrative with the Death Korp, you can write them as fighting anywhere at anytime basically.

There are hundreds of DKoK regiments spread accross the Galaxy, becoming more common the closer to Krieg you get.
They go whereever the Imperium needs hardbitten and fearless soldiers to hold the line no matter the cost.

Keep in mind the Death Korps produces 100x times more guardsmen than an equivalent planet, so there's plenty of them them all around.
Dead Men Walking was only 4 depleted regiments, and as far as I know they were never sent to Vraks.

The normal planet only raises one or 2 regiments every couple years. Krieg raises 2-5 regiments a year IIRC.

Thats the one.
So that would put Krieg having 100 regiments for every regiment raised by a normal planet.

Then there are planets like Cadia which I would have to assume outnumber the Kreig greatly.

Indeed. But then, Cadia is hardly a planet, more a military base/training academy in and of itself.

Cadia has a population of 850 million people, that is pretty darn low, and considering that they have an actual industry (I think) it might not be the case.

The Death Korps now makes up a healthy number of the regiments in the Imperial Guard. As others have said above they raise 10 regiments within a year, the maximum the Munitorium will allow them otherwise I'm sure they'd raise more. The advantage of Krieg is that it is the sole planet allowed to use the mysterious vitae womb technique thanks to a direct order from the High Lords of Terra who recognised the advantages of the Death Korp and ordered that anything Krieg wanted or needed, it got. No questions, no complaints, just let Krieg have it. In return Krieg pumps out regiments full of zealous, fearless Korpsmen.
It is important to remember that the Death Korp does not solely consist of Siege Regiments - there are Armoured, Infantry and Artillery Regiments, and, I hope, Death Rider Regiments, because 'WW1-esque' lancers are awesome. Whilst the Siege Regiments are the undisputed masters of offensive Siege warfare amongst the Guard, their other regiments are equally as good at their relevant roles, which is generally about grinding the enemy down until their troops are unable to continue the fight and the Death Korp can wander across no-mans land and bayonet them. Which is something they're also very good at, using their bayonets - although I reckon that any 'Ghurka' or 'Sikh' based regiments would be even better, because during the second half of c19, the Sikh's were regarded as being the best bayonet fighters in the world and the Ghurka's are just berserk melee fighters.

Given that Cadia has large portions of the planet given over to training facilities a population of 850 million is reasonable.

Also, considering that Abbaddon's forces have taken a little bit of the planet during the 13th. There probably isn't much industry. The low population is probably due to the fact that all able-bodied people are put into service.

Hmm... I don't think it is. If I remember correctly, Krieg was bombed all to hell with atomics for years and years and is now a death world; a barren, toxic wasteland. Cadia is a fortress world, like, the fortress world as far as Guard planets go; a giant military base vs. a giant wasteland... not really the same.

There's plenty of training grounds underneath the wasteland, and the wasteland itself is a great place to train your recruits.

Yes, but there's still a clear distinction between them. My point wasn't that Krieg isn't a Guard world that raises regiments for the IoM, just like Cadia, but that it simply isn't a gaint military base/training academy like Cadia is, which is it what you implied.

Well actually they kinda are, considering how many troopers they put out, the fact that Krieg produces nothing but soldiers and what Sparks_Havelock said about the vitae-womb, it certainly makes it seem that Krieg only goal is to spit out soldiers.

^ There it is laid out, but you seem to have missed the point. One is a Death World. The other is a (very large and very important) Fortress World. Again; there is a clear distinction, both in purpose and functionality. One is a harsh, unforgiving wasteland used the churn out the maximum amount of hardy, grim regiments it can handle. The other is basically one big HQ for an entire sectors worth of Imperial forces, ceasing to be a 'planet' in a traditional sense and becoming one, huge military base in a way that is unique to Cadia. That's the distinction I made, and the one you implied isn't there.

Which is all Krieg is.
By nature of it's self-inflicted devastation, thanks to Colonel Jurgen at the start of the 500 year civil war, Krieg is a fortified world thanks to it's bleak, toxic wasteland. The wasteland itself is used in the final stages of training to weed out the weakest of the strong - the weak will already have died by that point, because the training regime of the Death Korp is that harsh.

So, why doesn't Cadia have a Vita-Womb? Seems like that would be priority number 1. Or if Cadia is in too hazardous a position, the closest safe place would good sea lanes to the eye of terror.

Cadians don't have any problems producing new ranks of soldiers.
The vitae-womb was given to Krieg because of the quality troops they produce, producing them in increased amounts gives the Imperium an edge.

AFAIK, Krieg is the only planet that uses the Vitae-Womb technology because of the Taboo associated with it. The Ad Mech is almost using Krieg as a testing facility for the Technology.

Pure speculation here, but I though Catachan jungles litterally eat up human settlements, it would probably too risky to use the Vitae-Womb there, especially if they're just testing it out.
