So there's gonna be this tournament and we're only allowed to bring a unit of max 250 points.
It's gonna be played on the Zone Mortalis board so its pretty much corridors everywhere (Pic)
No vehicles are allowed (walkers that fit on the board may be taken).

I'm thinking of taking:

Vet squad:

Harker
Heavy flamer
2 Plasma guns
Missile launcher
4 Lasguns
Forward sentries+Demolition

or maybe

2 Infantry squads as a blob (don't know if it will be possible to take this yet):

2 Sergeants
2 Comissars /w Plasma pistols
2 Missile launchers
2 Plasma guns
12 Lasguns

What do you think about this? What would you take? Inb4 Grey knights gonna kill me

For my greyknights, probably a strike squad:

10 man strike squad 250 points
2 psycannon
1 hammer
psybolt ammo

so thats 16 strength 5 stormbolter shots and 8 psycannon shots (4 if moved), hammer is becasue had 10 points left and can always use the boost.

I feel a marine player with assault terminators would win though

Yup, sure feels like marines will have it better than others.
I'll just HOLD THE LINE with my one unit for as long as I can.
There might be some additional rules that they havn't announced yet for the players and I know there are some special forge world rules for the Mortis board but we don't know anything else yet.

With the Zone of mortalis, it looks like close combat will rule over shooting, you would only get one round of fireing in before your opponent is upon you. I think maneuverability and cc will be important. Unless you can somehow deploy with a decent fire lane to see whats coming.

For guard I would maybe drop missile launchers and other heavy weapons for things like plasma and melta. Being close means range should not be an issue and being able to keep moving and shooting would be more beneficial imo.

^ this... plasma heavy is the way to go IMO because its rapid fire and hopefully can get rid of assault termies or other such things b4 they get to you

You are correct but when it comes to IG I don't really have any good CC anyway. My best defense would be overwatch with 20 dudes (my 2 infantry squads) or the flamer in the vet squad. And I can't really take more special weapons as I've maxed the limit (although I could swap them for other ones)
I took the missile launchers because according to the forge world rules blasts get to re-roll wound rolls and if you scatter into a wall it explodes at that position meaning its hard to miss your shot if you don't scatter along the corridor. But as I said I'm not sure these rules are gonna be used so i'm gonna have some heavy bolters as backup maybe. Skipping the heavy weapon would only give me 2 more lasguns instead.... I don't really know if that's worth it.

Now this seems like a pretty funny list. The only negative part is that not many models will be able to fight when charging in the corridors. But it could work

Maybe take a platoon, spam plasma on the command squad, flamers on the infantry squads, plasma pistols on the sergeants, and then special weapons squad with more plasma, maybe like this:

Infanrty Platoon - 250 points

Platoon command - 3 melta
Infantry squad - plasma gun
Infantry Squad - melta gun
Special weapons - 3 melta

I think melta over plasma so 1. you dont kill yourself and 2. cheaper so can fit more in. As soon as you see something round a corridor, you are shooting 7 melta, 1 plasma and 17 lasgun shots into them (double for rapid fire) that would ruin most power armors day.

I don't know if that will work. A platoon might be a troop choice but I don't think it counts as one unit. I'll have to ask the organizers but I doubt it would work.

Ogryn's?

Ogryns could work. Don't have any models because they suck in a regular army. How many ogryns do I get with 250 points? Don't have my codex with me right now.

5 ogryns + one bonehead is 250points

so 6 models on the table haha

was just thinking cause they would be better for the close encounters but still not perfect, up to you

If it is just a single squad, here is what I would go with:

Vets: SGT Bastogne, Plasma gun 3, Heavy bolter, Grenadiers.

Can you give vets up to two or three doctrines? I though you could only chose one.

So I'm pretty sure you can.

Ogryns would probably be best, but failing that:

CCS, straken, heavy flamer, 3x melta, 2x bodyguards, carapace, kraks
250pts

CCS
Company Commander Plasma pistolx2
Plasma gunx4
Body Guardx2
Carapase
Camo Cloaks
MoO

230pts The MoO could be illegal or hilarious depending on the rules. Remember he doesn't need LoS and scattering 3d6 on a small crowded board might help you earn kills. With 10 BS 3 plasma shots at close range, 2 ablative wounds, that auto-pass look out sir and orders (the most important thing) you should be able to shoot everything down before it touches you. Also 4+ armor and a +1 to your cover save for the hell of it.

If anyone enters CC you'll be boned, but you're guard! It might be better if you could fit Straken in there, but somehow I doubt you'd be able to and keep that much fire-power.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Straken really throws off due to the 95 points he costs.
Wonder if you could play with Commisar Yarrick and 1 Eviscerator Priest...

Wow ... lots of ideas ... Marines are going to love this sort of situation :( ...
Ogryns might well be your best bet, because they are so hard to kill without heavy weaponry.
btw, can you take a single tank?
Leman Russ Executioner ... I'm just gonna let that hang

Good luck!

We're not allowed tanks or flyers. Walkers that fit on the board are okay.
So I guess it is possible to take a Armored sentinel squadron with plasma cannons.

I like the one idea of a command squad:

Plasma Pistol x2 for company commander
plasma gun x3
Master of the Ordnance
Nork Deddog
Carapace armour

250 points. I have done something similar to this in the past. Nork Had a good round of combat, then, when he was killed, he had 4 hits against a demon prince, and took the demon prince down (prince only had 2 wounds left).
